Can I just create a new shopping account?

Yes, you can have multiple accounts in different regions. Nintendo Switch allows you to have multiple accounts on the console through which you can buy and install games. At the same time, you can run them from the main account.

This will not allow you to install previously purchased games (if you archived them or after replacing the console) or spend vouchers stuck on the ro-account. But it will be possible to buy games without thinking about resetting your personal account.

How to change the region?

Previously, a full-fledged guide was published in the community: How to buy games for Nintendo Switch from Russia. But if you describe briefly and step by step, the process looks like this:
1. Log in to accounts.nintendo.com using your account.
2. In tab “User Information” click on the button “Change” in section “Profile” .
3. Select the required country/region from the drop-down list and save the changes.
4. Re-enter Nintendo eShop on the console.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Back to contents

Which region is the most profitable? Is there an analogue of Argentina/Turkey in eShop?

No, there are no analogues of Argentina/Turkey in the eShop, and it is impossible to single out any one super-profitable region. Of the popular ones, one can single out Poland, the USA, Mexico and Japan (if you can find top-up cards in yen at a price close to the market price, they are often overpriced).
The best value vouchers are currently on sale in Japan. Learn more about vouchers and their benefits: Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers.
For the United States, you must use the ZipCode (zip code) of a state that does not have an additional VAT. I think the comments will help with them.

Which region should I switch to?

Before choosing a region, consider the following points:
1. Availability of discounts . In Nintendo eShop, discounts do not always sync across regions.
2. Availability of the required localization . Sometimes it happens that not all possible languages are available in the region. The availability of the required can be checked on the game page in the eShop. Changing the region later will not make it possible to use the desired localization if it was not in the region of purchase. Read more here.
3. Availability and cost of recharge cards . Top-up cards in USD are the easiest to find, and the markup on them is usually not very high. Euros are a little less common and the markup is higher. For Polish zloty (well, other currencies) you will most likely have to go to binance/coinsbee.
4. Availability of required denominations of cards . Euros, for example, have not very convenient denominations of 15/25/50, in contrast to dollar 10/20/35/50. Therefore, it is easier to buy DLC worth 17 dollars / euros at a discount in dollars.
5. Regional restrictions for DLC. Sometimes DLCs with games from different regions cannot work together. Read more here.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Back to contents

What can block the change of region?

1. NSO/NSO+ subscription auto-renewal activated. How to disable it if you are still in the ru-region is described in the same previously mentioned guide.

2. For all non-European regions: availability of funds in a personal account. When you change the European region, the money on the account burns out (regardless of their amount). The rest need to reset their personal account either through a purchase or through technical support.

How can I fund my Nintendo eShop account now?

Now only the possibility of replenishing an account through the purchase of replenishment cards is available for holders of Russian bank cards. The cards themselves can be bought:
1. On plati.market. Choose verified sellers with a large number of reviews and a minimum of returns.
2. Binance/coinsbee. Cheaper than other popular options, but registration with a passport / driver’s license is required.
3. Various groups of VK/Telegram channels. Many are essentially just reselling cards from coinsbee. Due to the lack of any reviews, you can use only at your own risk. But there is an opportunity to buy not only dollars / euros.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Back to contents

Where can I check prices in different regions?

eshop-prices.com.
1. Shows the relative cost (which can be converted to any of the supported currencies) across regions.
2. Stores price history.
3. Warns of regional restrictions.

dekudeals.com.
1. Stores price history.
2. After registration, it allows you to fill out a wishlist (including DLC) and set up discount notifications, but only for one region.
3. It has a convenient price filter, which makes it easier to reset your personal account for the subsequent change of region.

Will a DLC purchased in Region X work with a game/cartridge purchased in Region Y?

Sometimes there are restrictions that prevent DLCs purchased in different regions from working with the game. The most obvious example of this is Splatoon 2.

The easiest way to check if DLC from this region will work with the game is to launch the game’s eShop page from the console’s main menu. To do this, hover over the game and press + . In the window that appears, go to Program Information -> Nintendo eShop .

Animal Crossing 9 eShop page launch0003

If no errors appear during startup, then there are no regional restrictions.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Back to contents

How to check for localization?

The availability of the required language can be checked on the eShop game page. If there is a localization for the game into Russian, then most likely it will be in any European region. However, its availability in other regions is not guaranteed.
In the console store, localization information is at the bottom of the page.
In the browser version, information about localization is in the tab “Details” .

We check the presence of localization in this block.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Back to contents

In which regions are vouchers available?

Vouchers are available in all European countries and in Japan. There are no vouchers in the US.

How to buy cartridges?

Now the situation with cartridges has improved a lot, and there are several ways to get yourself a physical edition.

  1. Cartridges are slowly finding their way into large chain stores and also appearing in online stores. This is the most expensive purchase option, but the easiest and fastest (the shortest time will pass from the moment of payment to receipt.
  2. Cartridges are also sold on Aliexpress. This option is much cheaper than the previous one, but the delivery time can be up to a month. Vendors usually do not guarantee the region of the cartridge, so sometimes there may be incidents when a version of the game arrives that does not even have English (for example, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim has such restrictions). It is worth looking at the reviews.
  3. Play-asia.com cannot pay with a card, only cryptocurrencies are accepted for payment. But there is a larger choice compared to other options, the ability to select the region of the cartridge, free shipping on purchases over $100. Of the minuses: delivery time up to a month and delivery only by economy class, which will not allow you to buy something large and / or heavy.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Back to contents

Will I be banned for changing my region?

At the moment, there is no information in our community that someone was banned for changing the region. The only significant risk is the possibility of buying a recharge card paid for with a stolen card. To avoid this, you should use only trusted sources.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Back to contents

Are any cards suitable for replenishing the account? Is there automatic currency conversion?

No, there is no auto currency conversion, so the recharge card currency must match the currency of the country you switched to. For almost all European countries, this is the euro (there are exceptions, for example, Poland needs zloty), for the USA it is US dollars, etc.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Back to contents

What will happen to the money on a personal account after changing the region?

In Japan or any European country, the money on your personal account will simply burn out during the transition to a new region. In all the rest, it simply will not work to switch the country if there is money left in the account.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Back to contents

Will I still have access to already purchased games/DLC after changing the region?

Yes, access from any region will remain.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Back to contents

What will happen to the gold coins after changing the region?

Coins do not transfer between regions, so they will remain in the region where you received them until they expire.

How to buy games for Nintendo Switch from Russia — Nintendo on DTF

Changing the region in eShop and replenishing the balance with payment cards.

The instruction was prepared by the Nizhny Khairul discord community

After the suspension of the Russian eShop, many began to ask questions about how to change the region in order to gain access to their purchases. We understand.

Contents:

  • Preparation
  • Change of region
  • Balance replenishment

Preparation

You will not be able to change your region if you have auto-renewal enabled on your Nintendo Switch Online subscription. However, now it cannot be disabled by standard methods and you will have to contact the Russian support service.

  • We go to the Nintendo.ru portal, select “Contacts” at the bottom.
  • In the drop-down fields, select your region and country, indicate the last two points, as in the picture:

We will be given a standard instruction, but it does not work now.

  • Scroll down, click the “Contact technical support” button.
  • In the field “Description of the problem” write:

Good afternoon!

Please turn off auto-renewal for my Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

Console serial number: [found on a sticker on the bottom of the console, or in the settings]

eMail associated with the account: [it’s simple here]

Registration date of birth: [can be found by logging to profile settings on nintendo.ru]

  • Fill in the rest of the fields. Be sure to include an email address for feedback.
  • Click “Continue”.

If for some reason you cannot use the site, you can still write to the email: [email protected].

Support responds within a week and they may ask for more information.

If everything is successful, then you will see the coveted response from the support service:

If you have a family subscription, then the administrator of the group must write to the support service. The next steps are the same for all members of a family subscription.

Change region

If auto-renewal is disabled, you can proceed directly to changing the region.

  • Go to accounts.nintendo.com and log in to your account.
  • Go to the “User Information” item.
  • Click the “Edit” button in the “Profile” section.
  • Change the “Country/Region” to a country that is convenient for us (South Africa, Poland and EU countries definitely have a working eShop).
  • Click “Save Changes”.

After we change the region, we will need to sign in to Nintendo Switch again before we can use the eShop again.

When you change the region, gold points do not burn out, they remain in the Russian region. Vouchers are transferred to a new region and can be used to pay.

Top-up balance

Previously, it was possible to pay with Russian cards in the eShop of European countries. But since now Russian Visa, Master Card and JCB cards are not accepted abroad, you will have to look for workarounds.

Important! If funds remain on the US/Japan account, the region will not be changed back to Europe/Russia. Use prepaid cards only if you are sure that you will not change the region.

Otherwise, set up a separate account for overseas purchases or be prepared to request a balance reset via support.

To begin with, I recommend that you read this article.

Editorial articles

There are two major payment systems left in Russia: Mir and UnionPay.

At the moment, the only way to top up the balance of other regions is to buy prepaid cards. There are a couple of shops where you can buy them.
