Iconic Klipsch design
Over the years Klipsch has become famous for their Tractrix® horn-loaded tweeter. This design produces clear, accurate high frequencies. The R-26F utilizes this tweeter along with two 6-1/2″ copper spun woofers to create natural, full-range sound with solid bass response. It’s also very efficient, so you won’t need a lot of power to drive it. Two sets of sturdy 5-way binding posts allow for bi-amping or bi-wiring.
Build a complete Reference system
Add more bass to a pair of R-26Fs with a matching subwoofer, or team them with other Klipsch Reference speakers for high-impact home theater.

Features
1″ Horn-Loaded Tweeter: The R-26F floorstanding
speaker features Klipsch’s proprietary Tractrix
Horn technology mated with a 1″ aluminum LTS tweeter, for impressive high-end response and greater
extension, enhanced imaging and powerful dynamics.
- Tractrix Horn Technology: The square Tractrix Horn delivers a 90°
(w) x 90° (h) dispersion pattern for a
broader sound-stage. - LTS (Linear Travel Suspension): Behind each horn lies a 1.0-inch
aluminum tweeter with a linear travel suspension to minimizes distortion for enhanced,
detailed performance.
Dual 6.5″ Copper-Spun IMG Woofers: The Klipsch R-26F
floorstanding speaker is outfitted with two 6.5″ Copper-Spun IMG
woofers. The Copper-Spun IMG (Injection Molded Graphite) woofer is exceptionally light
while being extremely rigid – providing remarkable low frequency response, with
minimal cone breakup and distortion.
Front-Firing Port: The Klipsch Reference series floorstanding speaker features a
front-firing port that is perfectly matched to the cabinet and drivers. The front placement
of the port creates ideal airflow with minimal distortion.
MDF Cabinet: The Klipsch R-26F floorstanding speaker features a MDF
cabinet with a brushed polymer veneer black finish that seamlessly integrates
into almost any room or decor. MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is utilized
because of its damping characteristics for natural, uncolored sound without
unwanted vibration and distortion.
Acoustically Transparent Grille: The Klipsch R-26F floorstanding
loudspeaker
comes with a removable, black cloth grille that is acoustically transparent.
Dual 5-Way Binding Posts: The Klipsch Reference series
floorstanding speaker is fitted with two sets of 5-way binding posts connected by
jumpers. Using the dual binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers.
The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single or dual),
pin-connectors, spade-lugs, and bare wire (up to 10AWG).
Integrated Rubber Feet: The Klipsch R-26F floorstanding speaker
features four integrated rubber feet for placing the speaker securely and safely
on your hardwood, laminate, or tile floor (these rubber feet should never be
removed). The floorstanding speaker does not come with any carpet spikes.
Placement: For optimum performance, Klipsch suggests placing
the floorstanding speakers 6′ to 15′ apart. They may also be toed-in slightly for
better stereo imaging. The listening position should be about 1 to 1.5x the
distance separating the speakers.
Reference Series: The Klipsch Reference series consists of
three floorstanding speakers (R-24F/R-26F/R-28F),
two bookshelf speakers (R-14M/R-15M),
one center channel speaker (R-25C),
and one surround speaker (R-14S).
The Klipsch Reference series line-up of loudspeakers sound great in stereo and
home theater applications.
Optional Powered Sub: For bigger & deeper bass response, pair the
R-26F floorstanding speaker with one of Klipsch’s powered subwoofers (sold
separately – see Accessories Tab).

Anything pushing 50 watts or more can drive these speakers. You’re not going to max out on volume unless you’re at a concert hall. But check out the Rf-28’s for the same price since you’re shopping around.

I have been using the AVR and R-26F for over a year now. Bluray movies, streaming music, Bluetooth… all sources and formats are utilized by my family. Sound has always been full, clear, and very clean no matter the listening volume. Very happy with both products.

No way of lowering it to 6 ohms, they are 8 ohms all day, all night
[ MIGUEL Aug 02, 2017 ]
A
No. They are 8-Ohm nominal. That means they are safe for receivers rated at 8 ohms. Speakers Ohm’s change depending on frequency. You may get an actual 5-1/2 to 80ohms.
These sound great with 100 watts. They are very sensitive 98Db

No damage – these speakers can really “SPEAK VOLUMES” – you’ll be fine – you can really crank them up – wonderful sound!
[ Patricia Jan 30, 2017 ]

All I can tell you is that my R-26F is pair up Audio/video receiver, Turn table, and compact cassette deck it works well and give great sound. Hope that information help you.
[ GENEVIEVE Jan 30, 2017 ]
A
No. That’s not what that means. RMS is a preferred max setting. You can push the speakers with a 120 watt/ch amp, heck…even one that’s 150 watts/ch. You just won’t be able to turn it up to max volume is all. I have 2 of these pushed by 120 w Onkyo receiver, volume never gets over 42 on a movie or 35 on music. . Thats loud enough for me, I assume the volume knob goes to 80 or even 100. You would never run speakers at max volume anyway, so you’ll be fine.

Audition speakers before you buy
SpeakerCompare simulates the sound of home and car speakers through your headphones. It lets you compare sonic characteristics between speakers so that you can make a more informed shopping decision.
Why selecting your headphones is important
SpeakerCompare tailors your listening experience to the exact headphones you have, so that what you hear is comparable to auditioning speakers side-by-side in person. Knowing which model headphones you’re using lets us remove any sonic coloring from your experience.
Two different listening modes
In an actual listening room, you’d find that some speakers play louder than others when fed the same amount of power. In equal power mode, you’ll hear these differences in loudness as they naturally occur between speakers.
In equal volume mode, we’ve made the loudness of each speaker about the same. This gives you a more direct comparison of subtle voicing differences between speakers.
Nothing beats listening to speakers in your space
SpeakerCompare gives you a sense of the sonic differences. But performance in the real world is affected by the acoustics of your car or home, your choice of amplification, and your source material. We still believe that the gold standard for auditioning speakers is hearing them in your own environment — that’s why we offer a 60-day money-back guarantee.
Our Listening Kit
To help you choose the right speakers, we recommend using Crutchfield’s SpeakerCompare Listening Kit. It includes a pair of studio-quality headphones, and a guide to getting the most out of your session, and a few other necessary items. We’ve carefully chosen the components of this kit to ensure a crystal-clear listening experience. It’s available for a nominal rental fee, and includes a $25 Crutchfield merchandise credit.

Klipsch R-26F Review – Is It Worth The Hype?
This post may contain affiliate links. If you make a purchase using one of these links it means we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Learn More
“You Can Buy Happiness”
Klipsch bills the Klipsch R-26F as “You can buy Happiness, It’s copper and black”. I must admit, Klipsch is quite creative with their words, another quote that I like from Klipsch would be “Tell Your Neighbors We’re Not Sorry”.
Anyway, Klipsch has long been known as a maker of high-quality speakers, and they have worldwide recognization for their sound quality. They even make bold statements such as “You’re not buying a speaker – you’re buying a piece of American audio history”.
In today’s article, we are looking at Klipsch’s floor-standing speaker, the R-26F. Let’s see if it lives up to all the hype I just mentioned.
Starting with the Design/Build/Connectivity:
At first glance, you will understand what Klipsch meant by the “It’s copper and black. The speaker comes in a fully black cabinet along with two 6-1/2″ copper woofers that help on creating natural and full-range sound with solid bass response.
While its woofers are impressive on their own, the star of the show it is definitely, the dynamic aluminum tweeter horn. Over the years Klipsch has become famous for their Tractrix® horn-loaded tweeter. This blueprint produces clear, accurate, and high frequencies.
It measures 39″ H x 7.8″ W x 13.5” D and weighs 41.9 pounds. The Brushed black polymer veneer cabinet is quite sturdy and is made to last. You can place it anywhere in the living room since the signature look of Klipsch, promises to blend with any furniture or room design.
The front-firing port provides fast, yet efficient airflow from the cabinet for clear and powerful bass.
Its removable grille offers a clean and streamlined look. There are also the dual 5-way binding post speaker terminals that can be either bi-wired or bi-amped.
For those who don’t know!
Bi-amping is a speaker connection method that uses two channels of amplification so it can power one single speaker.
Bi-wiring is the opposite it uses just one channel of amplification in order to power the same type of speaker.
Performance:
Klipsch R-26F has a frequency response of 38-24,000 Hz (±3dB) with a sensitivity of 97 dB. Its power handling goes up to 100 watts RMS (400 watts peak) and an impedance of 8 ohms.
It is made to fill medium rooms and will work just fine but it can benefit a lot from an extra subwoofer since there’s no built-in subwoofer. If you are listening to a wide range of music, a decent subwoofer might come into use. Or if you just do home theater type and average stuff, without going overkill, it will sound perfectly fine as it is.
A subwoofer that comes to my mind right now, that works wonders with the R-26F, would be the Klipsch R-12SW Subwoofer. Overall, they sound amazing especially when watching movies or listening to vinyl records.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
- Greatly Priced
- Good Looking Design
- Sturdy and robust
Cons:
- It lacks on lows
- Would work best if paried with other speakers
Buying Advice:
Before obtaining a new floor-standing speaker, I’d propose thinking about the budgetary arrangement and furthermore, basically, how far you’re set up to dis out to a speaker.
Klipsch R-26F is a quality speaker, as with most quality speakers, you will be prepared to break your bank, so taking a smart decision is key here.
Klipsch R-26F comes at retail for just under 300$, which is a rather high price, I can’t lie.
Yet, it is much more affordable compared to the competition, which can’t even come close to R-26F quality.
My Final Words:
If you are on the “hunt” for a floor-standing speaker that has a really high-frequency fidelity, you will be hard-pressed to find a floor-standing speaker that can match the Klipsch R-26F. With the price, it comes and with the value, it brings, totally unbeatable.
What Others Say:
Since I shared my final thoughts, it would be nice to know what others say regarding the Klipsch R-26F.
Most of them were impressed by the versatility and capability of the R-26F. Since Klipsch is mostly known for its hights, it sure didn’t fail to impress many in this range aspect.
Most of the comments that were going around were how clear, bright R-26F sounds in both movies and music. Some criticized the lows, just as I said above you will need a decent subwoofer to push this floor-standing speaker to its full potential.
