ProForm is a subsidiary of Icon Fitness, which is now referred to as iFit. iFit is also the parent company of NordicTrack, iFit and FreeMotion. In the winter of 1975, Edward and Florence Pauls of Chaska Minnesota built the first indoor ski machine in their garage. Ed wanted a way to train indoors during the brutal Minnesota winters. Their indoor ski trainer was so successful, the Pauls soon found themselves running a thriving manufacturing business that expanded to include treadmills, ellipticals, and other cardio equipment. The Pauls ran this company out of their home until they retired. In 1998, the company was acquired by iFit located in Logan, Utah. iFit is now one of the largest manufacturers of health and fitness equipment.
What To Expect From ProForm Treadmills
ProForm is really great at offering quality designs and features, while also considering space and budget. We like that you can access all the same classes on iFit like you can on NordicTrack’s treadmills, but for a fraction of the cost. iFit lets you train with several personal trainers who guide you through countless classes on and off the treadmill.
If space is a factor for you when buying a treadmill, know that all of ProForm’s treadmills fold up to leave you more room when they’re not in use. ProForm also makes their treadmills sleek, yet straightforward and easy to use.
Best ProForm Treadmills
The top models that we consider the best ProForm treadmills are the ProForm Pro 9000, ProForm Pro 2000, and the Carbon T10. All of these models have been on our best treadmills list. The Pro 9000 and 2000 are the brand’s premium models. Even though they’re higher-end, they are still pretty compact and offer incline and decline. The Carbon T10 is a little smaller while still offering the option to stream from iFit on a 10” touch screen. We love all of these models for home use.
ProForm Pro Series Treadmills
The Pro Series is ProForm’s top line which offers more deck cushioning, larger motors, touchscreens on each model, and a -3% decline to a 12% incline. These treadmills fall between NordicTrack’s EXP Series Treadmills and the higher-end Commercial Line, with enhanced shock absorption and iFit-enabled touchscreens. The Pro Series line keeps pricing reasonable for all models, so this is an excellent mid-range option.
ProForm Pro 9000 Treadmill
The Pro 9000 tops ProForm’s Pro line with a whopping 3.6 HP motor. This is their highest-powered machine and is best suited for runners and walkers looking for increased incline training. Offering a -3% decline up to a 12% incline, the 9000 has great features for a folding treadmill. It has a 20” wide by 60” long belt, which is about as long as you can get on a folding deck. ReBound Pro cushioning increases comfort with each foot strike so you can run longer with less fatigue and joint discomfort.
- iFit Enabled, 30-Day Membership Included
- 22” HD Touchscreen Display
- 3.6 CHP Mach Z Motor
- 20” x 60” Tread Belt
- 0 – 12 MPH
- -3 to 12% Incline/Decline
- ReBound Pro™ Cushioning
- SpaceSaver® Design with EasyLift™ Assist
- CoolAire™ Workout Fan

ProForm Pro 2000 Treadmill
The Pro 2000 is currently one of ProForm’s best-selling treadmills due to its affordable price and great features. The Pro 2000 has a 3.25 HP motor, 20″ by 60″ belt, and ReBound Pro cushioning with a 10” touchscreen. It also has a -3% decline, which is a nice feature, and it lifts to 12% incline, which is a bit more than on comparable models. The weight capacity is 300lb user max, so this will work for most users. Again, this folding treadmill has EasyLift assist and hydraulic release for convenience.
- iFit Enabled, 30-Day Membership Included
- 10” Smart HD Touchscreen
- 40 On-Board Workouts
- 3.25 CHP Mach Z Motor
- Tread Belt 20” x 60”

ProForm Carbon Series Treadmills
The Carbon Series is ProForm’s mid-range line of treadmills, geared for light jogging and walking. These treadmills are well-suited for new users looking to buy their first treadmill or those who need a small, foldable treadmill that will easily fit in small rooms, apartments, condos, etc. The Carbon series treadmills feature respectable components and tech with cushioning in the deck full-color iFit-enabled touchscreens.
ProForm Carbon T10 Treadmill
The Carbon T10 is a popular model because it is compact and offers a nice 10” touch screen with the option to stream iFit. The Carbon T10 is our favorite treadmill for those who want something compact and cushioned for an affordable price. This treadmill folds up to be very compact and space-saving, and the ProShox cushioning in the deck mitigates joint impact by gently flexing underfoot. The 2.75 HP motor is strong enough to attain and maintain a top speed of 12 mph and up to 12% incline. This treadmill motor works well for light jogging or walking, but may not support heavy training or extended running mileage.
- iFit Enabled, 30-Day Membership Included
- 10” HD Touchscreen
- 2.75 CHP motor
- 20” x 55” Tread Belt
- 12 MPH Max Speed
- 12% Incline
- Deck Cushioning
- Manual Folding Design
- Weight Capacity 300 Lb.
- Footprint 34” Wide x 73” Deep x 58” Tall

ProForm Carbon T7 Treadmill
The Carbon T7 is a great deal! You can get this treadmill for free when you purchase a 3-year membership to iFit. Not only is the T7 great for streaming iFit and a great deal to take advantage of, but it has a 10% incline, a 10MPH max speed, ProShox cushioning, and a 7” touchscreen. The Carbon T7 has a 2.6 HP motor which will support light to moderate jogging, but may not be sufficient for homes with multiple users or those who want to train more intensely. The Carbon T7 does have a really compact folding deck, so this treadmill doesn’t take up much space when you aren’t using it.
- iFit® Enabled, 3-Year Family Membership Included
- 7” HD Touchscreen
- Motor: 2.6 CHP
- Tread Belt 20” x 55”
- 10 MPH Max speed
- 10% Digital Quick Incline
- ProShox Flex Cushioning
- Manual Folding Design
- Footprint 33.5” Wide x 66” Deep x 57” Tall

ProForm City Line Treadmills
The City Line currently only consists of the City L6 treadmill which features a fully collapsible console. Since the console folds down directly onto the deck, this treadmill has the smallest footprint of any on our list. The ProForm City L6 is a great option for those who have roommates, live in a small space, or have other size restrictions in their home.
ProForm City L6 Treadmill
The City L6 has a unique design we rarely see on motorized treadmills: the fully collapsible console. This compact treadmill is not the most powerful, but it is a great option if you need something small and quiet to walk on at home in your own bedroom or office. The total footprint for the City L6 is 29” Wide x 70” Deep x 44” Tall and it only weighs 125 pounds. This compact unit is perfect for petite users with a 17.5” x 45” walking deck and 1.6 HP motor.
- iFit Enabled, 30-Day Membership Included
- 1.6 HP motor
- Tread Belt 17.5” wide by 45” long
- Top Speed 8 MPH
- No Incline
- Weight Capacity 250 Lb.
- Total treadmill weight: 125 Lb.
- Footprint: 29” Wide x 70” Deep x 44” Tall
In addition to treadmills, ProForm has an extensive line up of Ellipticals, Exercise Bikes, HIIT Trainers, Rowers and Hybrid Trainers
Pros / Cons of ProForm Treadmills
Pros
- ProForm finds a comfortable middle ground between the higher-priced NordicTrack treadmills and budget-oriented treadmills.
- With an extensive lineup of options that range from less than $1000 to just over $2000, you have lots of options to find the right treadmill for you.
- We love that even the Pro 9000 has great features, a large touch screen, and a good price.
- While staying affordable, the ProForm treadmills still feature iFit, which is a great database of classes and options.
- ProShox cushioning, incline and decline, and respectable motor size keep the ProForm treadmills as viable options that remain affordable and foldable.
- Consoles are streamlined for maximum functionality but minimal clutter.
Cons
- Some of the models aren’t best for intense training and heavy use.
Overall Rating of ProForm Treadmills:
ProForm has established a market position that caters to users who want a quality treadmill for an affordable price. Even the City L6 has some innovative features that make it convenient for home use, so you get a certain level of quality with each ProForm machine. We like how ProForm strikes just the right balance in the Pro Series by staying in between NordicTrack’s EXP Series and Commercial Line treadmills to offer more options for users in this price range. With nice cushioning, iFit streaming, easy-to-use consoles, and good incline and decline range on the higher-end machines, the ProForm treadmills are consistently solid, well-designed machines.

ProForm treadmills are produced by the world-leading, Utah-based gym equipment manufacturer iFit Health and Fitness. When comparing ProForm treadmills it’s impossible to ignore the huge differences in price, performance, and durability. So what do they all have in common? Features. All ProForm treadmills are feature-rich compared to most alternatives in their class. The biggest competition comes from NordicTrack, which is also owned by iFit and uses many of the same treadmill components. ProForm treadmills for 2023 have a range of different features, from HD touch screens to Bluetooth speakers, come iFit-ready, and bring other amenities to help keep you motivated.
Below are overviews of the main ProForm treadmill series currently on the market. Retail prices range from $799 to $1,999, but you can often find the models online with up to 50% off.
First up is the Pro Series, which ProForm describes as their ‘industry-leading interactive fitness’ models. In the middle ground we have the Carbon Series, priced and equipped to meet the typical fitness shopper’s needs. Finally there is the City Series, which offers the cheapest treadmills in ProForm’s roster.
Looking for a desk treadmill? ProForm’s Thinline and Thinline Pro models are well-reviewed, and although the Thinline is discontinued, a number of used models can be found online for terrific prices. Unlike the average desk treadmill, these models can support intense exercise when work time is through, with their spacious tracks, automated incline/decline, many workout apps, and iFit readiness.
Check out our ProForm Comparison Chart:
Pro Series
The ProForm Pro Series features the brand’s top treadmill tech. The three treadmills in this lineup for 2020 are suitable for runners as well as walkers. Motor capacity ranges from 3.25 CHP on the SMART Pro 2000 to 4.0 CHP on the 9000 model. Pro Series units range from 60-inch x 20-inch to 60-inch x 22-inch tracks, which are quite spacious, and a power incline/decline from -3 to 15% on the 9000 model, with the others up to 12%.
All models have a smart 10-inch HD touch screen which works in conjunct with the machines and comes iFit-ready.
Carbon Series
Although the ProForm Carbon Series is technically a step down from the Pro Series, we’re still big fans of the treadmills’ price–performance ratio. Both Carbon Series machines have 20-inch x 55-inch tracks and 0-10% automated for the Carbon T7 and 0-12% on the Carbon T10. The Carbon T7 has a 2.6 CHP motor, which is ideal for walking and light jogging, and the Carbon T10 features a slightly higher-powered 2.75 CHP motor.
Besides the extra horsepower, users of the Carbon T7 also benefit from a 7-inch high-contrast display, compared to the 10-inch display of the T10. Both machines can accommodate up to 300 pounds in user weight, which should be sufficient for most customers.
City Series
ProForm’s entry-level treadmill is found in the City L6. Lacking a built-in smart HD touch screens, the treadmill offers a built-in tablet holder. The treadmill is priced at $799 and does come with a 1-year Family Membership to iFit, valued at $486.
The City L6 features a 1.6 CHP motor and a 17.5-inch x 45-inch tread, making it best for walking for perhaps jogging. The models has a speed of 0-8 mph, and the belt will both wear out rather quickly if you often train intensely. With an easy folding design, the unit’s foot print is only 29 inches wide, by 70.25 inches deep, and 44.5 inches high. With a maximum weight of 250 pounds, larger customers might need to take notice here. Regarding the warranties, ProForm offers 10 years on the frame, and 1 year on parts and labor.
What We Like:
- Reasonable Price Range: Every customer has a different price point, so it’s important to have machines for every budget. ProForm doesn’t disappoint in this regard. Their factory-direct sale price for treadmills ranges from $799 to $1,999.
- Programming Options: Each treadmill is also with iFit, a subscription service that syncs your machine with virtual outdoor training via Google Maps and HD workouts hosted by celebrity personal trainers in fitness studios around the world.
Many of these models come with a subscription included with the purchase.
- Motors: The motor can make or break a treadmill as it dictates how smoothly it’ll run. The good news? ProForm provides great motors throughout its catalog at every price point. The Performance Series motors are at the lower end of the spectrum, but from there you can go all the way up to a 4.0 CHP drive with the Pro 9000.
- Incline Features: All ProForm treadmills can automatically incline or decline, giving you plenty of workout programming options.
- Cushioning: Your joints will appreciate ProForm’s top-of-the-line cushioning system. With up to 28% less impact on the lower body, you’ll be able to train pain-free for the foreseeable future.
- Compact Design: Most of ProForm’s treadmills are foldable and can be easily tucked away when not in use.
- Audio: The treadmills come equipped with audio auxiliary ports with dual 2-inch speakers up to 3 inches.
- Warranties: Most treadmills in this brand offer warranties up to 10 years of coverage on the frame, 2 years on parts, and 1 year on labor, depending on the machine.
What We Don’t Like:
- Customer Service: From reading a number of reviews online, customer service appears to be a major weak point with this company. This is definitely something to keep in mind if you’re a first-time owner who will need help maintaining your machine or have a lot of questions you want to ask before and after your purchase.
Our Verdict:
ProForm has an inclusive range of treadmills on its roster to suit every budget and type of exerciser. In fact, the brand’s popularity is sufficient that many of their older models, though discontinued, are still carried online and at other retailers due to demand. Their wide variety of prices make them affordable for just about everyone and there is a sharp increase in quality as the prices increase. This is evidence of a brand that understands its different users’ needs and tailors its products to these accordingly. At all the different price points, you can count on ProForm to deliver top-notch quality and a smooth ride. Many people have already experienced excellent fitness results using ProForm treadmills. Overall, they are certainly worth the investment. It’s worth noting that ProForm and NordicTrack treadmills are quite similar, so consider comparing machines from both brands to see which one best suits your personal needs before diving into a purchase.
