Smartphone GPS quality – Rallycheck
Rallycheck GPS accuracy
When using the Rallycheck app, we constantly measure the accuracy of the GPS signals. The app shows the accuracy on the bottom if the screen next to an icon. In this example you can see thet the accuracy is 8 meters. Normaly this is about 3 to 4 meters.
Interested in the quality of your smartphone GPS signal?
We tested a number of smartphones with GPS to make sure they work correctly with Rallycheck. Any phone with GPS should work, but the more GPS signals, the more precise Rallycheck can check your route. The key factor in the European area is the support of the Galileo GPS system. If your phone supports Gallileo, then you’ve got the best quality.

The following phones have been tested.
We recommend the use of smartphones with at least a 3 star ranking and Gallileo GPS.

Choosing a smart feature phone on Android or KaiOS in 2020: 6 fresh models with LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS and WhatsApp
About six months ago, DGL.ru published a large article about smart push-button phones running Android and KaiOS. Almost all the devices described in it are sold today. Moreover, they are quite relevant, since “buttons” do not become obsolete at all as quickly as smartphones. And yet, in late 2019 and early 2020, a number of new advanced button phones hit the market. We will talk about them today.
But first, let’s remember why such models are needed at all. Indeed: after all, you can buy a smartphone and end up with a much larger screen and much more features. However, not all so simple. A push-button telephone is much more difficult to break; due to the small size of the display, it can work offline longer; finally, such a device is ideal for the role of a second handset. It is small and inexpensive, while it often has a WhatsApp messenger and access to social networks. A smart “button” can be taken to places where they are not allowed with a full-fledged smartphone – we are talking about the offices of some large companies and government agencies that keep secrecy.

One of the simplest push-button phones with a set of smart features. The simplicity lies in the fact that it does not support LTE and is equipped with a 1000 mAh battery. This is the minimum allowable value for a smart button player – after all, it can do much more than ordinary “non-smart” models, and consumes more energy. There are two cameras in the BQ 2800G Online, but both are the simplest – 0. 3 megapixels. There is Wi-Fi support, the screen is 2.8-inch. Of the unpleasant, we note only one slot for SIM-cards.
Works BQ 2800G Online running operating system Mocor5. This is such a specific build of Android for phones without touch screens, created by the Unisoc (ex-Spredtrum) chipset developer. A similar shell is used, for example, in Qin models, created with some participation of Xiaomi. The green and blue buttons on the front panel of the BQ 2800G Online, by the way, provide access to WhatsApp and Facebook.
Slightly more expensive and certainly more advanced device of the same breed. It already supports LTE, and the battery capacity is 1400 mAh. There is also more memory: if the BQ 2800G Online has only 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of internal memory, then there are already 512 MB and 4 GB, respectively. On the other hand, the screen has become slightly smaller (2.4 inches instead of 2.8), and the front camera has disappeared. The rear has not changed – all the same 0. 3 megapixels.
With the software platform, everything is the same – Android in a variant called Mocor5. But there are no buttons for accessing the social network and the messenger. Minus convenience, plus solidity – BQ 2400L Voice 20 looks more strict.
Phone with LTE support and a very impressive battery – 2000 mAh. At the same time, the device has a 2.4-inch screen, and there is no front camera (there is only a main one with 0.3 megapixels). With memory, everything is exactly the same as in the BQ 2400L Voice 20. In general, these devices are very similar in terms of hardware.
But in terms of the software part, the differences between them are fundamental. Nobby 240 LTE runs KaiOS. The positive side of this platform is a more thorough optimization of control for buttons, when compared with artisanal assemblies of Android. Plus Google apps on KaiOS are supported – Google Maps, Google Assistant, YouTube. It sounds strange, but Mocor5 based on Android does not have any of this. The disadvantage of KaiOS is that many popular third-party applications are not available for it – say, Instagram and Telegram. But WhatsApp and Facebook are.
One of the few folding smart phones on the Russian market. An important feature is the presence of a GPS-receiver, which is absent in the previous three devices. The Nokia 2720 Flip supports LTE and Wi-Fi, has two screens, a 2 megapixel camera and is, on the whole, quite a nice clamshell. There is a model, however, quite expensive. But there’s nothing to be done about it: the most prestigious brand in the “button” niche, the same maximum functionality (remember the same GPS), software updates that come from time to time, and so on – all this costs money.
The role of the software platform in Nokia 2720 Flip is played by the same KaiOS. Although there are rumors that in the future HMD Global (produces phones and smartphones under the Nokia brand) may release a “button” with Android.

Another device based on the same KaiOS, but a) monoblock and b) also fully protected. Nokia 800 Tough complies with MIL-STD-810G and IP68 standards, which means that it is not afraid of drops on a hard surface from a height of up to 1.2 meters and immersion in water to a depth of 2 meters. The design is appropriate: there is a loop for a cord or a carabiner, the case is reinforced in a circle, the dimensions are slightly larger than the standard ones for a 2.4-inch “button”.
In terms of hardware, this is almost a complete copy of the Nokia 2720 Flip. But the screen, of course, is only one, the flashlight is more powerful, and the battery capacity is 2100 mAh (versus 1500 for the clamshell). For a push-button phone, this is quite a lot, even if we consider that we are talking about a smart model. Moreover, KaiOS is very economical.
We mentioned this phone in a previous article, but now you can finally buy it. This is also a secure model, and it also complies with MIL-STD-810G and IP68 standards. The screen is 2.8-inch and at the same time touch-sensitive, which makes control much more convenient than all previous devices. LTE and Wi-Fi are supported, there are two cameras in the model (0.3 and 2 megapixels), and the battery capacity reaches 2500 mAh. The USB Type-C port, which is vanishingly rare in “buttons”, completes the picture – you can only remember the Qin and ZMI models.
But the GPS-receiver in the device is unexpectedly absent (although it was planned earlier). At the same time, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 quad-core chipset, which underlies the AGM M5, supports navigation. It is possible that GPS is disabled by software, and enthusiasts will be able to get it to work. The phone is running Android 8.1 Oreo Go – with a proprietary shell, but without cutting out most of the usual options (as in the same Mocor5). However, there are no Google services in the model. But there are pre-installed WhatsApp, Skype and Facebook, as well as the ability to install other applications.
