The Magic Bullet Mini is a very small and compact personal blender with a simple design. It comes with a 13-ounce jar meant for single-serve smoothies and a cup ring so you can drink directly from the jar. There’s no to-go lid included, which is a little unusual for a personal blender, but it does include an eight-ounce jar for preparing small batches of sauce or dip. The jar and lids are dishwasher-safe, but you should clean the blade assembly by hand.

Our Verdict

5.3

Multi-Purpose

The Magic Bullet Mini is a rather straightforward personal blender that isn’t ideal for multi-purpose use. It does a good job of making smoothies with fibrous ingredients like kale, but it can’t crush ice and can’t hot blend. You can use it to make smooth nut butter, but it’s a tedious process.

Cons

  • Small capacity.

  • Can’t be used for ice crushing.

  • Can’t hot blend.

  • Blades aren’t dishwasher-safe.

7.6

Smoothies (Single Serving)

The Magic Bullet Mini is good for making single-serving smoothies. It makes silky smoothies with fibrous ingredients like kale and includes a cup ring so you can drink out of the 13-ounce blending jar. However, it doesn’t come with a resealable to-go lid. The jar and cup ring are dishwasher-safe, but you need to clean the blades by hand.

Pros

  • Makes a smooth blend with fibrous ingredients.

  • Personal jar and cup ring included.

6.0

Smoothies (Multiple Servings)

The Magic Bullet Mini comes with a small jar that can only fit enough ingredients to serve one or two people. It takes longer than some personal blenders to make a smoothie and only comes with one jar, so it’s not ideal for making several batches. That said, it makes a silky puree with ingredients like kale.

Cons

  • Small capacity.

  • Can’t be used for ice crushing.

  • Blades aren’t dishwasher-safe.

1.0

Ice Crushing

You shouldn’t use the Magic Bullet Mini to crush ice without also adding liquid to the jar, according to the manufacturer.

Cons

  • Can’t be used for ice crushing.

  • Blades aren’t dishwasher-safe.

2.8

Soups

You can’t safely use the Magic Bullet Mini for hot blending, so you need to use room temperature ingredients if you use it for soup. The jar’s small capacity is limiting since it won’t fit most recipes in one batch. That said, if you want to occasionally blend a few servings of soup, it makes a silky blend with vegetables like kale.

3.9

Professional Use

The Magic Bullet Mini is pretty bad for professional use. It’s designed as an affordable and compact personal blender. Its build quality is mediocre and quite plasticky, it can’t crush ice, and since it only comes with small personal jars, you can’t make big batches of food.

Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The Magic Bullet Mini is a seven-piece assembly without any variants. It comes with a 14oz jar, an 8oz cup, a resealable lid, and a cup ring, plus the motor base. Unlike other Magic Bullet blenders like the Magic Bullet Essential, you can’t currently buy it with a different set of accessories, and the manufacturer doesn’t sell extra jars or lids. You can see our unit’s label here.

Compared To Other Blenders

The Magic Bullet Mini, as its name implies, is a small blender for personal use. It doesn’t stand out from other options on the market, but it makes good smoothies and is easy to clean. Unfortunately, you can’t crush ice with it, and it feels very plasticky compared to other personal blenders like the Oster MyBlend or Ninja Fit.

For other options, take a look at our recommendations for the best personal blenders, the best budget blenders, and the best blenders for smoothies.

The build quality is quite mediocre. The body is made out of generic plastic that doesn’t really feel durable and premium. The transmission gear is also made of plastic, and the jars don’t feel thick. On the upside, the blade assembly screws easily on the jars. If you want a small personal blender with a better build quality, try the NutriBullet GO.

Nut Butter Preparation

Nut Butter Texture

It’s not good for making nut butter. While it can eventually produce spreadable nut butter with a good, crunchy texture, it’s really tedious to use for that purpose. It takes around eight minutes of blending time and you need to stop the blender frequently to shake the jar so the ingredients keep moving. Also, by the end of the process the motor can overheat and create a plasticky smell.

This blender has simple controls and no automatic blending programs. You can push down on the jar to activate its motor, and if you release it, it stops, which acts as a pulse mode. You can also push down and twist the jar, locking it in place for a continuous blend. If you prefer a blender with a dedicated pulse button, check out the Magic Bullet Kitchen Express.

It’s decently easy to clean by hand. Running the blender with soap and water in the jar cleans away some residue, but you need to spend some time cleaning the rim of the jar and the blade assembly with a sponge or brush. It’s more time-consuming to clean by hand than some other personal blenders like the Ninja Fit.

Review: We Tried the Magic Bullet Mini Juicer

Our editors and experts handpick every product we feature. We may earn a commission from your purchases.

I’m a firm believer that any food or drink bought at a restaurant is worth learning how to make yourself. This has rung true for my morning cup of joe (coffee shops have nothing on my at-home barista skills). And I’ve learned to experiment with my favorite restaurant dishes and cocktails.

When I finally invested in one of the best blenders (hi, Vitamix) my smoothie game reached peak performance. The one thing I haven’t perfected, however, is a smooth, fresh juice. You probably already know that at-home juicing is near impossible with just a blender. And juicers tend to be large, bulky and expensive appliances.

As an apartment dweller with little storage, investing in a cumbersome juicer isn’t a priority. Until I discovered the Magic Bullet mini juicer. This nifty gadget is compact, affordable and turns my favorite fruits and veggies into drinkable juice in minutes. I can’t stop experimenting with juices thanks to this mini-but-mighty appliance.

What is the Magic Bullet mini juicer?

Madi Koetting/Taste of Home

It’s the pint-sized kitchen appliance we’ve been waiting for our entire lives! At seven inches tall, the Magic Bullet mini juicer is a compact yet powerful appliance. It boasts a 400W motor base and 52-ounce pulp bin perfect for juicing one healthy serving of juice at a time (16-ounces to be exact). Just like all the best juicers, it chops, grinds and extracts every bit of juice from your favorite produce.

How We Tested It

Unboxing the Magic Bullet mini juicer, it included all the bells and whistles of traditional juicers. It arrived pre-assembled, but I took it apart to clean it before getting started. Everything from the pulp bin, stainless steel sieve and cleaning brush, juice spout, food pusher and portable cup is included. Plus, a scannable code for recipes.

Next, I prepped my ingredients. I love a good juice with ginger (gotta look after that gut health), so I opted for an apple, carrot and ginger concoction. Knowing it takes a generous amount of ingredients to make one cup of juice, I started with five whole carrots, two red apples and an inch of peeled ginger root. I wasn’t quite sure how small to chop my ingredients. The mini juicer says it fits large chunks, so I ran with it by cutting the five carrots into slightly smaller slices and slicing the two red apples as normal. Time to juice!

I followed the directions to a tee, making sure not to turn the machine on until the first ingredient was in the chute. Turning it on, I grabbed the food pusher to, well, push the food down the chute. One by one, juice began to pour out the spout. I followed this process until my carrot, apple and ginger slices were gone. Surprisingly, my eye balled ingredients made exactly one, 16-ounce cup of fresh juice. The bin was filled to the brim with pulp, too. The true test, however, was the taste test.

There was a thin layer of foam on the top and some pulp escaped into the cup, which I expected. Still, upon tasting my concoction I was impressed. It went down smooth (read: no chewing chunks that escaped), and tasted so fresh. Nothing compares to a fresh juice with no added sugars, and I was ecstatic about the juicing opportunities that awaited.

However, my Magic Bullet mini juicer test wasn’t complete without attempting to turn my favorite green smoothie into a juice. Reese Witherspoon’s green smoothie recipe is my go-to. I go back and forth from drinking it religiously for weeks then taking a two-month break…it’s a process. The recipe calls for one head of romaine, half a cup of spinach, one apple, one lemon, one pear and one banana (celery is optional).

I prepped the ingredients as I would if I were blending them into a smoothie. One by one, I shot the ingredients down the food chute. As expected, the romaine and spinach produced hardly any juice. The apple, pear and lemon, on the other hand, were successful. After every ingredient made it down the juicer, I threw the green mixture into my Vitamix, added a banana, almond butter, a splash of coconut water and got to blending.

Funny enough, the green juice smoothie hybrid tasted better than the original smoothie recipe. Likely because the apple, pear and lemon overpowered the romaine and spinach, which hardly produced juice. Though it’s not efficient (or cost-effective) to juice romaine and spinach for a green juice, I was impressed with my experiment.

Magic Bullet Mini Juicer Features

Madi Koetting/Taste of Home

The Magic Bullet mini juicer includes everything you need for efficient, at-home juicing. Every single item assembles together—no need to store extra parts in a random drawer. The cherry on top is the portable cup. Just juice and go!

Pros

  • Compact
  • Easy to assemble
  • Affordable price point
  • Includes food pusher
  • 16-ounce juice cup with lid
  • Only weighs 3.5 pounds
  • Seven-inches tall (shorter than a standard coffee maker)
  • Large, 52-ounce pulp bin

Cons

  • Layer of foam on juice
  • Noise level is comparable to a blender
  • Not ideal for big-batch juicing

FAQ

What are the differences between a “smoothie” and a “juice”?

Unlike juices, a smoothie includes all the fiber and pulp from the blended ingredients. You consume every last bit of blended fruits and veggies in a smoothie, whereas a juice quite literally extracts all the juice inside fruits and veggies. Juicers separate the pulp, skin and fiber into the pulp bin. Have you tried the best smoothie delivery services?

Do I need to add water or liquid to create a juice?

Nope! Since the juicer extracts juice from ingredients, no liquid is necessary to push them through the juicer.

How do I care for my Magic Bullet mini juicer?

When you’re done juicing, turn off the mini juicer and unplug the machine. Carefully disassemble the juicer, paying close attention to the stainless steel sieve and sharp blade. Clean each part with warm, soapy water after each use. The stainless steel sieve requires some elbow grease to clean. Thoroughly rinse each part with water, set aside and reassemble when parts are dry.

Product Comparison

This mini juicer isn’t quite a masticating juicer, or the same as the NutriBullet slow juicer. The Magic Bullet mini juicer contains a 400W base, which is larger (and more noisy) than the NutriBullet slow juicer’s quiet 150W base and 65 RPM. Still, it packs a powerful punch for a mini version of a traditional juicer.

The one trade off of the mini versus regular size is that it’s not ideal for big-batch juices. That’s not to say it can’t make multiple servings, it simply means this mini guy requires a larger container to juice into and the pulp bin needs to be emptied more frequently.

Final Verdict

The words mini and juicer may not sound like they go together. But I’m thoroughly impressed with the power of this mini-but-mighty gadget. It checks all the boxes. It’s compact for countertop storage, it extracts every last bit of juice, it’s easy to assemble—and it’s under $60.

My one pain point—and this goes for all juicers—is that it takes so many ingredients to make just one cup of juice. This is because juicers extract the juicy parts of fruits and veggies, so it’s not quite as potent as mixing them up in a blender.

Still, I love that it’s designed for individual juicing. The included portable cup makes it convenient to whip up a juice on the way to work and go. As if there could be another standout feature, it’s a no-waste machine. The pulp can easily be reused in recipes or composted—the choice is yours! Instead of waiting in line for a fresh concoction, I now spend that time making my own juices at home. I’m never paying for a $13 green juice ever again!

Where to Buy the Magic Bullet Mini Juicer

via merchant

The Magic Bullet mini juicer is available for around $60 on NutriBullet’s website. It’s also available at Macy’s and Kohl’s.

Considering a fresh, individual juice can set you back upwards of $13, this mini juicer pays for itself. I’m excited to perfect yet another restaurant-quality drink, and you will be, too. I can’t think of a more delicious way to get my daily dose of fruits and veggies.

By the way, if you’re looking for more affordable options, this $33 Frigidaire blender is the appliance of our dreams.

Hungarian Puli Dog | Hill’s

As a herding breed, the Puli Hungarian Shepherd Dog tends to walk in circles and often tries to “herd” people by biting on their heels.

Puli is an active medium sized dog with a unique appearance.

The Hungarian Puli is sometimes called the Corded Shepherd Dog because its tail is tightly curled over the back of its body, which is covered with a corded coat. Sometimes it’s hard to tell where the dog is in front and where the back is, which is why it was nicknamed “push-pull”.

Dense, weather-resistant coat grows profusely on all parts of the body. The guard hairs are wavy or curly, but never silky. The undercoat is soft, fluffy and thick.

The coat tangles easily and, if allowed to grow naturally, will curl into cords in adults. Cords are soft, of different shapes and thicknesses, and can be flat or round, depending on the texture of the coat and the ratio of the volume of the undercoat to the guard hairs. At 4-5 years old, the coat can become quite long and hang down to the ground. She does not shed, which makes the dog hypoallergenic.

Puli coat color includes solid colors of rusty black, black, white and all shades of grey. Fully pigmented skin has a bluish or gray tint regardless of coat color.

The weight of the bullet depends on the height, which varies from 38 to 43 cm in females and 41 to 46 cm in males, and also on the amount of wool. Fully twisted into cords, mature wool can weigh between two and three kilograms.

Bullet Character

These active, intelligent, self-confident, distinctive and manipulative dogs are fiercely loyal to their family and friends. Bullets are extremely intelligent, have a sense of humor, and remain cheerful and playful well into old age. These dogs were bred to accompany shepherds working alone in the hills, so above all they are incomparable companions. Representatives of the breed can be both very sociable and very picky in relations with people outside the family.

Although puli and shepherd dogs are primarily domestic companions and guardians of their family and herd. For these dogs, their people are the most important thing in life, so they will always put the owner and his family first and come back to check if everything is in order. This happens even if they are busy exploring the environment, working with the herd, or performing their guard duties. Bullets are good watchdogs, but they rarely bark for nothing.

Maintenance and care

Being herding dogs, puli love to run in circles and are generally very active. They often try to “herd” their people by biting their heels. With proper training and daily physical activity, representatives of this breed will become excellent companions for the family.

Due to the density of the wool, twisted into cords, special care must be taken to prevent the dog from overheating. If Puli is floating in a pool or lake, it’s important to keep an eye on her and help her get out of the water if she gets tired. Washing and drying a completely twisted coat can be a real challenge.

The history of the origin of the breed

Puli is an ancient Hungarian breed with Asian roots. They are considered descendants of the Tibetan Terrier brought to Hungary no later than 900 AD by nomadic tribes. The word “bullets” is translated as “driver” and as “destroyer”.

Color and size played a huge role in the development of the breed as a herding breed. Lighter bullets guarded herds and flocks from robbers and wild animals at night, mixing with their wards. Bullets of a darker color were used for hauling and grazing during the day. This breed has always been famous for its herding instincts.

During the Second World War, dog breeding in Hungary almost died out, but by that time bullets had already earned their reputation as excellent companions. The dogs were moved to other countries, notably the United States, where their breeding continued in an attempt to preserve the breed. In 1935, several of these dogs were imported into the United States for use in the herding dog experiment.
