    Positioning

    This model opens the S22 range and is characterized by minimal dimensions, which leaves its mark on usage scenarios. Compactness for the modern market means that you will not be so comfortable watching videos, photos, and other content.

    Ten years ago, a 6.1-inch screen would have been called gigantic, but today you won’t surprise anyone with it, and the display is rather small for a modern device. It follows from this that the Galaxy S22 is best suited for those who are looking for a small smartphone for calls, chatting in instant messengers, listening to music, perhaps storing information. But not for those who are used to using their smartphone to the fullest – watching movies non-stop, playing toys other than balloons. When considering the S22 as your device, you need to clearly understand your own usage scenarios, formally the model is universal and can do exactly the same as its older counterparts. In reality, you need to carefully delineate the boundaries of use, since there is nothing more erroneous than considering the device to be universal and drawing such a conclusion after reading its characteristics.

    I won’t forget how they blamed me after the S20 FE review, where it is written in black and white that the device is not suitable for everyone and those who play toys should pass by, since the cooling system in it is far from perfect and such a use case is possible, but do not expect comfortable work. People boldly ignored this description and then complained that they bought a device that heats up. I repeat that there are no universal solutions, you need to be clearly aware of the purposes for which you are buying a device. After all, it’s unlikely that you buy a sports car to transport tons of potatoes in it. Everything has its purpose and purpose.

    The Galaxy S22 model is the flagship without discounts, I will highlight the new generation camera here, it gives excellent results, and if you are taking pictures, then this will be one of the first points that you should pay attention to. It is also an ideal device for those who make a lot of calls and receive calls, correspond in messengers. Formally, we can say that this is an ideal smartphone for calls, and therefore, as a second device. All functions where the screen is rarely used, for example, listening to music or storing any information, are on top here. Let’s take a look at what the device looks like and what it can do.

    Design, dimensions, operating elements

    repeatedly complained that Samsung decided to make the body of the model rectangular, similar to the iPhone 13 Pro. Devices lying face up can even be confused.

    In the previous S21, the case is slightly curved, which makes it fit perfectly in the hand, but here everything is exactly the opposite – small size, but ergonomics suffer and you want to use a case, it reconciles you with sharp edges. It’s good at least that there are interesting covers.

    Dimensions of the smartphone – 146 × 70.6 × 7.6 mm, weight – 167 grams. Light enough for its capabilities, the frame is reinforced aluminum, and the body is covered with glass. I have always liked satin finish, it’s great that there are no handprints left. There are several color schemes, each has its own advantages.

    You can also order additional colors on the Samsung website, there are only four of them.

    There are no complaints about the quality of the case, materials. The strength of these models is very high, it is difficult to break them, but it all depends on your personal luck or lack of it.

    The intrusion of the camera on the rear panel does not protrude much, even if you do not use the case, it does not interfere. On the right side is a paired volume rocker, on/off button. The slot for two nanoSIM cards is placed on the bottom end, there is also a USB Type C connector, as well as a speaker. The second speaker is above the screen, the stereo pair works fine, the volume is above average. The downside is that the speakers are multidirectional, the sound “walks” a little. But in a device of this size, this is normal.

    Protection against water, of course, is present (IP68), which makes the use of the device even on the water safe (the sea and the list goes on).

    The screen has no curves, which will appeal to those who for some reason can’t get used to curved displays. The fingerprint sensor built into the screen works with a bang, responsive, and recognizes touches well. There are no complaints about it, although it all depends on whether you use film or not. There is no factory film in S22, so it is up to you to install it or not. My device was not used very carefully, there are no scratches on the screen for a little over a month. At the same time, over the same period, the iPhone 13 Pro was covered with a grid of small scratches, it was operated in exactly the same way.

    The bottom line is an excellent assembly, good case materials, a modern look, somewhat reminiscent of the iPhone 13 Pro. It looks nice, but copying the appearance of a competitor is a controversial decision. In life, the device is very pleasant in perception, although ergonomics definitely suffer due to sharp corners.

    Display

    Let’s take a look at the screen specifications – 6.1 inches, FHD+ (20:9), Dynamic AMOLED 2x, auto brightness control, AlwaysOn Display, Corning Gorilla Glass 6, HDR10+, 42-120Hz, 425ppi, 1500nits.

    By any measure, an excellent screen, well readable in all conditions, including in the sun.

    There is exactly one minus of this screen – it is small, and if you do not have 100% vision, you will have to peer. The 120 Hz mode is excellent, I always have it on – the animation is smooth, both in the interface and in most third-party applications. The screen settings are typical for a flagship from Samsung, there is freedom for those who want to customize the device for themselves and their preferences.

    AoD mode is also nice, you see notifications on the lock screen, you can quickly jump to them.

    Traditionally, there is a blue color filter, a dark theme, including the ability to set a schedule. Adaptive screen brightness adjusts to your preferences. In manual mode, you can set the brightness up to 550 nits, in automatic mode it reaches 1500 nits.

    Battery

    The built-in Li-Ion battery has a capacity of 3700 mAh and supports USB Power Delivery 3.0. This allows you to get rid of a simple problem – a long smartphone charge. A 45W charger is supported, but buying one for this model looks unnecessary. Look at the charging time.

    Minutes 25 W % charged 45 W % charged
    15 25% 30
    30 51% 58
    45 78% 80
    60 93% 95
    100% in 74 minutes 100% in 70 minutes

    As you can see, the choice of powerful charging makes no sense, it’s easier to stop at the usual one, at 25 watts. In the settings, you can turn off fast charging if it seems to you that it wears out the battery (in practice, this is not the case).

    Wireless charging supports up to 15 W, which allows you to charge your smartphone in 85 minutes. It’s fast and comfortable.

    Reverse charging allows you to recharge accessories or another smartphone, power up to 9 watts.

    Now let’s talk about working time in practice. The device worked for me a full day, subject to a couple of hours of calls, communication in instant messengers – 2.5 hours of screen operation at the same time. Also, about 1.5 hours of listening to music on headphones plus a smart watch is always connected. A working day is easily achievable in this scenario.

    But if you are constantly online, communicate not only in instant messengers, then the operating time will be about 3 hours of the screen, but the battery will last from 9 am to 6-7 pm, which is not much. It is the operating time that becomes the weakest point of this device, plus in “heavy” applications, for example, games, it can noticeably heat up, which further reduces the operating time. And it all depends on what you need a smartphone for. If for games, then choosing the S22 is a bad idea in every sense.

    Communication options

    There is support for Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), as well as maximum aggregation of LTE frequencies. Wi-Fi 6E is also present, but for Russian users this standard is not very interesting at the moment (it is turned off by default for Russia).

    Support for payment systems Samsung Pay, Google Pay, the work does not raise questions (in Russia today it does, but that’s another story). Of course, there is full-fledged NFC for everything you can imagine.

    Bluetooth version 5.2, there is support for sending an audio stream to multiple devices. There is a proprietary QuickShare feature that allows you to quickly send large files to other Samsung devices (a sort of combed Wi-Fi Direct).

    The UWB standard for accessories is not yet certified in Russia, as a result, it exists, but is also closed in software. It remains to note that the GPS is dual-band and works great in urban environments, there are no complaints here.

    Memory, chipset, performance

    The amount of built-in memory can be 128, 256 GB, there is no support for memory cards. On the other hand, choosing even a 256 GB device, you most likely will not experience memory problems. The amount of RAM is 8 GB.

    it can warm up. In previous versions of the software, the gaming service limited the performance of the processor, but now you can turn on the processor to the full, but expect heating and short operating time. Here the choice is yours, what is more important for you – speed or time of work.

    Chambers

    The main camera unit consists of three modules, the main novelty is the main module for 50 megapixels.

    The shooting quality is amazing, in a blind test it was the S22 that outperformed all competitors, including the iPhone 13 Pro. In a word, you get an excellent camera with good additional modules.

    The camera interface is familiar to other devices, as well as the capabilities of the device. Plus, the Expert RAW application has been added, you can download it separately.

    Impressions

    The connection quality is at a good level, there are no complaints here. The device is compact, nimble and justifies itself in those scenarios that can be assigned to it. This is not a smartphone for games, but rather for calm reading social networks, instant messengers, but more for calls and communication. It is also good as a music player or the most compact camera.

    The direct competitor for it is the iPhone 13 Pro, but the Apple model is noticeably weaker in everything, and costs 20% more. We have a comparison of these devices, so you can look at it and judge for yourself the difference between the devices.

    Talking about Russian prices is now completely out of hand, since they vary greatly from store to store. The model opens the line, it costs significantly less than the already mentioned iPhone 13 Pro, while the device is better in most respects.

    I really liked this smartphone as a compact device, it is ideal as a second device for making calls. As the main smartphone is not so versatile, there is not enough screen diagonal. But here everyone chooses for himself and his habits. This device is definitely a success.

If you play the top MMORPGs on PC, you don’t think about the hardware requirements, but you may encounter them using your phone.

    How can you tell gaming phones from non-gaming phones at a glance? Devices that we would call gaming phones tend to have larger screens, higher refresh rates, and superior ergonomics. This filling allows you to play all the titles in the top games on Android 2021 and 2022.

    What else is the difference between a non-gaming phone and a phone for games? The latter is better suited for processing data and displaying visual effects. The best gaming smartphones also come with more sensitive sensors. Thus, you can not just download the game three in a row, but aim at something more demanding.

    Which smartphone is best for gaming?

    How did we choose the best gaming phones? Here are five characteristics that a top-notch mobile device should have:

    • large screen with a refresh rate above 60Hz;
    • a lot of RAM and high speed of information processing;
    • powerful speakers;
    • capacious battery;
    • compatibility with additional equipment (analogue stick, fans).

    So, what to buy if you want to play not only the best games for iPhone 2022 or iOS 2023, but also the top Android games?
