  • Honest review of AliExpress mystery boxes: is it a scam?

Hidden boxes have been flooding AliExpress lately, but… what do these boxes contain that we can buy for a few dollars?

In this post we will analyze if they are a scam or if there really is a chance to get something interesting in one of these boxes.

    What is the mystery box?

Mystery boxes are boxes that contain surprise items. You don’t choose the content, you just pay and the seller chooses and ships the items you want.

These secret boxes attract a lot of attention because they contain pictures of expensive items such as smartphones, consoles, smartwatches, cameras, headphones, drones…

Apple product is 99 or 100%. And all this for a few dollars.

    Are these mystery boxes safe?

The mere fact that they promise such expensive goods at such a ridiculous price should make you suspicious. Because yes, everything points to these boxes being a new scam that has popped up on AliExpress.

You know you can always find amazing things at cheap prices on AliExpress, but being reasonable, no one sells an iPhone or iPad for $1 or $5. Is not it?

How is it possible that they have positive feedback?

What might make you think and doubt is that most of these items have good customer reviews that also include photos of the items received: e. g. iPhone, Airpods, iPad, JBL speakers…

In addition, many of the These mystery boxes already have thousands of sales, which makes them even more attractive.

We always recommend reading product reviews to guide you before buying, as they are usually very reliable and helpful (especially if they have pictures).

In this case, after analyzing some of them, it becomes obvious that these are not real reviews. Although they are written from different countries, everything indicates that they are fake, because either the language does not match the language of the country, or they are very badly written, as when translating something directly from Google translator.

In addition, looking at many of these listings, you’ll notice that the same photos of satisfied customers are repeated for different listings and stores.

Finally, all of these stores are very short-lived, so the thousands of sales that may be piling up are most likely recent purchases that have not yet reached their destination and therefore cannot be realistically estimated.

Some of them do start to get a bad scam warning, but when it starts to get general, be sure the seller will delete the product file and create a new one.

Will I be able to claim my money back if the hidden box does not deliver what was promised?

If you have already bought one of these boxes and you are wondering if you can open a dispute to claim your money: wait until you receive the package and try to record a video or photograph of the whole process, also writing down the order label where you can see the tracking number.

If the description on the box indicates that you are going to receive an original Apple (or any other brand) product, it will be very easy for you to file a claim: attach a screenshot and photos or video of what you received to the dispute.

We have found that some sellers try to hide claims better by including a number of warnings in the ad, such as that by buying a box you take the risk of buying a surprise product and that disputes are not accepted, but you can open a dispute, when you see fit.

To facilitate the dispute, it is recommended to collect and attach as much evidence as possible.

In our opinion, it is unlikely that AliExpress will rule in favor of these sellers, as it is obvious that they are acting incorrectly.

    Remember to shop smart

There are thousands of sellers on AliExpress, and although most of them are serious people who care about their customers, you can always find unscrupulous sellers. So beware of ads that sell expensive branded items for a few dollars when even replicas are not that cheap.

But… we all fall into a trap sometimes, and if this happens, don’t be discouraged, because you have AliExpress protection and you can get your money back.

Media Markt’s “Mystery Box”: Should You Buy It?

Stores regularly experiment with various offers and promotions. Now the so-called “Mystery Box” from Media Markt is sold in stores with appliances and electronics. But does the box really promise what it says?

This question has been asked by many customers, such as social media users. One of them showed that the “Mystery Boxes” are offered in his store for 90 and 150 euros each, depending on the size.

A surprise bag full of electronics and technological accessories is what Media Markt offers as a special offer from the company in its stores.

It is said that whoever buys this box will receive a wide range of MediaMarkt products worth more than the purchase price.

Secret box in Media Markt: customer experiences

Opinions and reports of experiences in the comments varied widely. On the one hand, some users proudly reported great achievements totaling more than 400 euros, while in Media Markt they spent only 40 euros on the box itself – ten times less.

Others have said that shoppers at stores like Media Markt and Saturn will have to do without big discounts in the future as the electronics giants are in crisis and need to seize the moment.

For example, a user from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern says that he found quite a lot of interesting things in his “mystery box” for this amount.

“Inside were a good Huawei smartwatch, great Bose headphones, a charger, a disk, and some junk (mobile phone cases, a smartwatch case, a hard drive case that I didn’t have, and other things I don’t remember)”. Like some others, he says that he was therefore very pleased.

Others, however, strongly advise against buying this product from Media Markt and report unnecessary items they found in their purchase.

“DVB‑C receiver, three music CDs and Billo headphones. I would never buy this again,” writes one of the critics about his miracle bag for 50 euros.

How high is the real value of the box?

On YouTube, some experts also wanted to check Media Markt’s offer and find out if the cost of electrical and technical accessories is really as high as advertised. The author of the channel “NerdsHeaven” bought a box for testing for 250 euros. As a result, he expected that the cost of the goods would be more than 400 euros.

In addition to two “good” items – a Sony music box and a relatively new car radio – he also came across some rather outdated items.

Among them, the vlogger found several Bluray DVDs, two old MP3 players, a receiver and a portable DVD player.

The production cost was estimated at just over 400 euros. But “the useful value is there,” he summed up casually in the video. Because of their age, a DVD player is no longer worth buying, and MP3 players have also long since outlived their usefulness.

Numerous reports testify that the Mystery Box is ultimately a matter of taste. Another content creator was very pleased with the contents of the 60 euro box.
