Questions? Answers.

All this in addition to exclusive and original content.

Your iTunes library is still yours. You can access your entire collection from Apple Music or from iTunes for macOS or Windows.

  • Apple Music is already on your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV 4K, Mac, and HomePod speakers — and you can listen with CarPlay or online at music. Apple Music is also available on Windows and Android devices, Sonos speakers, Amazon Echo, Google Nest, smart TVs, and more.

  • That all depends on which offer you choose. (1) The Apple Music Voice Plan is $4.99 per month after your free trial. (2) Students can choose the Apple Music Student Plan at
per month. (3) An individual monthly subscription is just
$10.99 per month after your free trial. (4) The Apple Music Family Plan, which allows you to share your account with up to five people and gives each member a personal account, is just
$16.99 per month. (5) The Apple Music Individual Plan and the Apple Music Family Plan are also included in Apple One, which bundles up to five other Apple services into a single monthly subscription. Apple One plans start at
    $16.95 per month.

Apple Music Classical is included with Apple Music Student, Individual, and Family Plans.

  • The Apple Music Voice Plan is a streaming service designed for use with Siri that allows you to access more than 100 million songs with just your voice.7 Request any song, album, artist, or playlist simply by asking. You also get personalized stations for any mood or activity, listening across all your favorite devices, curated playlists from our editors, new ways to use Siri with Apple Music that are personalized for you, exclusive and original content, and more.

Getting started with the Apple Music Voice Plan is easy — simply ask Siri to play some music. You can subscribe within the app, and listen just by making a voice request on any Siri-enabled device.

  • Students get the same Apple Music features and benefits as individual members. Once your student status with your college or university is verified, you get student membership pricing for up to four years, as long as you remain a student. After four years, your membership will continue at the individual member price.

  • Yes. With a Siri-enabled device and any Apple Music plan, you can enjoy all the features of Apple Music and Siri. All plans also support Type to Siri.

  • Dolby Atmos is an audio technology that creates an immersive listening experience in which sound comes from all around you.

Apple Music subscribers using the latest version of Apple Music on iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV 4K can listen to thousands of Dolby Atmos music tracks using any headphones. When you listen with compatible Apple or Beats headphones or most Bluetooth headphones, Dolby Atmos music plays back automatically when available for a song. For other headphones, go to Settings > Music > Audio and set Dolby Atmos to Always On. You can also hear Dolby Atmos music using the built‑in speakers on a compatible iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, or iMac, or by connecting your Apple TV 4K to one of the following: HomePod speakers set up as the default speakers, a Dolby Atmos–compatible sound bar, a Dolby Atmos–enabled AV receiver, or a television that supports Dolby Atmos audio. For the full list of compatible devices, please see Dolby Atmos is not available with the Apple Music Voice Plan.

  • Lossless audio compression reduces the original file size of a song while preserving all of the data perfectly. Apple Music is making its entire catalog of more than 100 million songs available in lossless audio at different resolutions. In Apple Music, “Lossless” refers to lossless audio up to 48kHz, and “Hi-Res Lossless” refers to lossless audio from 48kHz to 192kHz. Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless files are very large and use much more bandwidth and storage space than standard AAC files.

You can listen to lossless audio using the latest Apple Music app on an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV 4K. Turn on lossless audio in Settings > Music > Audio Quality. You can choose between Lossless and Hi-Res Lossless for cellular or Wi-Fi connections. Note that Hi-Res Lossless requires external equipment such as a USB digital to analog converter.

For a full list of compatible devices, please see Lossless audio is not available with the Apple Music Voice Plan.

  • Yes. With an Apple Music Family Plan, up to six people in the family can enjoy all the features and the full catalog of Apple Music. To get started, just set up Family Sharing on your iOS or iPadOS device, Android phone, or Mac and invite family members to join.

  • Apple Music has zero ads.

  • New subscribers can get six months of Apple Music free with an eligible audio device. Make sure your iPhone or iPad is running the latest version of iOS or iPadOS. Then you can activate your Apple Music trial after you pair your audio device to your iPhone or iPad. You’ll have three months to redeem the offer after the first activation of the eligible device.

  • Apple Music Classical is a companion app for Apple Music subscribers. Included with Apple Music plans for Individual, Family, and Student subscribers as well as Apple One, at no additional cost, Apple Music Classical is a dedicated classical music service designed by and for all types of classical music listeners. Classical music experts will delight in the largest collection of its kind, excellent search capability, and the high-quality audio that classical music deserves. If you’re new to the genre, you can discover classical music through curated playlists, intuitive browsing, and detailed descriptions of works.

  • Classical music has a fundamentally different metadata structure from that of genres like pop, hip-hop, and country. As a result, it requires a unique approach to search, browse, library, and recommendations features. In addition, presenting the data about each album requires completely different formats. Classical listeners also have specific interests, such as composer bios and descriptions of works.

Already a classical music enthusiast and Apple Music subscriber? All the classical music in your Apple Music library will automatically appear in the Favorites tab of Apple Music Classical, ready for you to enjoy.

  • You can download Apple Music Classical from the App Store or Google Play. If you have an Apple Music Student, Individual, or Family Plan, you can start using Apple Music Classical right away at no additional cost.

Apple Music Classical is available for all iPhone models with iOS 15.4 or later. The Apple Music Classical app is not yet supported on CarPlay, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, or HomePod. However, Apple Music Classical has a unified library with Apple Music, which means that any track, album, or playlist you favorite or “star” in Apple Music Classical will automatically appear in your Apple Music library. You can listen to music you favorite in Apple Music Classical on each of your devices through the Apple Music library tab, where all of your Apple Music content is available to listen to, online and offline.

  • Yes, both apps will offer the largest classical catalog in the world. However, Apple Music Classical will include multiple additional features, such as classical browse, a search engine designed for classical music, handpicked recommendations, composer and artist bios, and descriptions of the works.

  • No, Apple Music Classical is classical only, but it does include lots of film and other crossover genres with classical music. Apple Music Classical users can also listen to more than 100 million songs on Apple Music through their subscription.

4 Ways You Can Get Apple Music for Free

Who doesn’t love freebies? Not to mention when it comes to streaming services, which can be a bit pricey for a nice-to-have if we’re being honest. That’s why anyone would take the opportunity to use any streaming service for free, albeit for a short while. Fortunately, that’s possible with Apple Music.

At any time, companies in various industries offer Apple Music trials when you purchase their products or sign up for their services. By now, you’re probably wondering how to get your hands on one of these deals. So, without wasting more time, here are all the free Apple Music offers and how to claim them.

1. Apple Music Free Trial

Apple Music is one of the top streaming services on the market. It gives you access to its library of more than 75 million songs. You can use features like downloads and Spatial Audio at no extra cost.

All of these benefits are available on Apple Music’s free trial. The trial is available to first-time subscribers and lasts for one month.

Is Apple Music free? No. That means you save at least $4.99 through this deal, depending on which Apple Music plan is best for you. To claim your free trial, you need to:

  1. Go to the Apple Music web page in your browser.
  2. Click the Try 1 month free button in the top-right corner or center of the screen.
  3. Follow the instructions to sign up and start streaming.

Keep in mind that Apple Music will start charging you after the one-month trial period is up. You can cancel your Apple Music subscription before then if you’re not ready to start paying. If you’re new to the platform, you should know you can also find and follow your friends on Apple Music.

2. Enjoy Apple Music for Free Through Apple One

If you’re an Apple fan, you probably already know what Apple One is. This subscription service bundles a bunch of apps into a single subscription. It’s a way to save money paying for the apps you love.

Here are the apps that are included in an Apple One subscription:

  • Apple Music
  • Apple TV+
  • Apple Arcade
  • iCloud+
  • Apple News+
  • Apple Fitness+.

But Apple One has another great benefit: A free one-month trial. And you know what that means—free Apple Music…

But there’s a catch.

Of the six Apple services included in Apple One, only the services you haven’t subscribed to will be offered free. So, you can only enjoy Apple Music for free through Apple One if it is your first time subscribing. The benefit is that you can also try Apple’s best subscription services.

Follow the steps below to claim your free trial.

  1. Go to the Apple One web page in your browser.
  2. Click the Try Apple One Free button at the center of the screen or in the top-right corner.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the sign-up process.

Just remember: Apple One automatically renews after your one-month trial period ends, so be sure to cancel before then if you just want to try Apple Music for free.

3. Get Apple Music for Free With Shazam

If one month isn’t enough, and you want to milk your free Apple Music trial a bit longer, try claiming Shazam’s Apple Music offer. It allows you to get a three-month Apple Music free trial.

This offer is only available through Shazam’s website. And like Apple’s free trial, you don’t have to buy anything to qualify—you just need to have the Shazam app on your mobile device.

Shazam offers multiple ways to identify music playing around you. From there, you can open and play it on the Shazam app. You can even listen to your Shazam tracks on your Apple Music, making it easy to discover new music, find new artists, and build your library.

Here’s how to claim Shazam’s free Apple Music trial:

  1. Go to the Shazam website in your browser.
  2. Scan the QR code on the page using your phone’s camera.
  3. Tap the Shazam QR code at the top of the screen and follow the prompts to redeem your offer.

Did you know you can also Shazam songs you’re listening to on your computer? Learn how to use Shazam’s Chrome extension to identify songs playing on the web.

4. Get Apple Music for Free by Buying Apple Devices

Moving on to longer Apple Music trials. They’re few and far between, but they do exist. You can get free Apple Music trials for up to six months with Apple’s help. However, they don’t come cheap.

One of the ways to get Apple Music for free is by purchasing certain Apple products in the Apple Store or online. And yes, you’ll have to fork out some coins for this one because Apple is not that generous. Here are the products you can buy to get this free trial:

  • AirPods (2nd and 3rd generation).
  • AirPods Pro (1st and 2nd generation).
  • AirPods Max.
  • Beats (Beats Studio Buds, Powerbeats, Powerbeats Pro, Beats Solo Pro, and Beats Fit Pro).
  • HomePod mini.
  • iPhone.

Here’s how to redeem your six-month Apple Music offer through your qualifying Apple audio devices. You must do this on your iPhone or iPad.

  1. Ensure you update your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Next, pair your audio device with your iPhone or iPad.
  3. Now open Apple Music on your device. You might have to sign in with your Apple ID if you previously signed out. Alternatively, go to the Apple Music redeem web page, scroll down, and click on Get Started.
  4. If you don’t immediately see the offer in Apple Music, look for it in Apple Music’s Listen Now tab.
  5. Tap Get 6 months free.

Have trouble pairing your AirPods? Don’t panic—here’s what to do when your AirPods don’t pair with your Apple devices. We know they’re not for everyone, but Apple also offers the best Beats headphones you can buy.

5. Take Advantage of Verizon Unlimited

Verizon is another one of the few options to get six months of Apple Music for free. Remember we said these longer trials don’t come cheap? This one doesn’t either. You must get a Verizon Unlimited plan to enjoy this offer.

Apple Music is either included indefinitely or for six months through Verizon plans. You can claim the offers even if you already have an Apple Music subscription.

At the time of writing, Verizon’s 5G Get More (Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband) plan comes with a free, unlimited Apple Music subscription.

And these are the Verizon plans that come with a free, six-month Apple Music subscription:

  • 5G Start (Unlimited 5G)
  • 5G Do More (Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband)
  • 5G Play More (Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband).

Please note that after the six-month period is up, you’ll have to pay $10.99/month for each line enrolled.

Unlike Apple’s six-month free trial, you can get more than just an extended free Apple Music subscription through Verizon. Here are more perks you can get through select Unlimited plans at Verizon:

  • Either Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass
  • Disney+
  • ESPN+
  • Hulu.

Are you ready to get six months of Apple Music through Verizon? Here’s what to do: if you already have an Unlimited plan, all you have to do is add Apple Music to your plan. If you’re on Verizon but don’t have an Unlimited plan, just change your plan. Finally, if you’re not a Verizon customer, make the switch so that you can claim your Apple Music offer.

How to Cancel Your Apple Music Free Trial

If you want to be safe and cancel your free trial ahead of time, you can do that on your iPhone or iPad. Of course, you can also cancel your Apple Music subscription for whatever reason, like switching to a different music streaming service.

Here’s how to cancel your Apple Music free trial or subscription:

  1. Go to Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap your Apple ID > Subscriptions > Apple Music.

6 music services in Russia and their features

Applications and services

Sasha Kirillova

searched for a new Rammstein song in all applications

Author profile

In April, Russian users were completely banned from listening to music in Spotify – both in the free and in the paid version.

Some users were able to continue using the service, but it is not easy to repeat their experience, so many began to look for an alternative. We tell you on which platforms you can listen to music and podcasts in Russia and what nuances each service has.

What services do you learn about

  • Yandex Music
  • VK Music
  • Apple Music
  • YouTube Music
  • Sound
  • MTS Music 9000 8

Yandex Music

Where to listen: web version, applications for iOS and Android
Music quality: MP3 192-320 kbps
Subscription trial period: 2 months
How to transfer music from Spotify to other services?

Features. According to a study by Deloitte, Yandex Music was the most popular music service on the Russian Internet in 2021.

The app has a large library, editorial playlists, personalized selections, and a recommendation system. In the fall of 2021, the My Wave feature appeared: an endless personal stream of tracks that recommends new music based on the user’s preferences.

“Waves” recommendations can be changed depending on the mood

A large section is devoted to podcasts and audiobooks: recommendations work there too, there are editorial selections and tops. Some podcasts are Yandex Music exclusives, such as Stories of Russian Sex and Route 161.

The main feature of the service is integration with other Yandex products. For example, the Movie Search functions allow you to immediately add a song heard in a movie or TV series to yourself.

There is also song recognition inside “Music”: it is available in the search section

What about new releases . It is not known how and when they will appear. After Universal, Warner and Sony Music announced restrictions on work in Russia, Yandex Music faced the problem of replenishing the catalog. For example, Rammstein’s single Zeit was not released on the platform. Some new releases reach Russia with a delay. Also, old foreign music, the license for which has expired, periodically disappears from the catalog.

VK Music

Where to listen: web version, apps for iOS and Android
Music quality: MP3 up to 320 kbps
Subscription trial period: month
Price: 169 Р in VK Combo subscription

900 02 Features. In November 2021, all Vkontakte music products were merged under the VK-Music brand. The service can be used through the application of the same name, as well as the web version and the Vkontakte application. In the browser on your computer, you can listen to music for free without any restrictions. Mobile versions also have a free mode, but you can’t listen to songs in the background.

The main advantage of streaming is that it is integrated into the social network. On Vkontakte, users have been uploading music themselves for years, including their own tracks and remixes, which is why the library in places is very different from analogues. In addition to algorithms, thematic communities and friends act as curators in VK-Music: you can subscribe to the former to follow the news, and the service automatically shows the tracks added by friends in a separate feed. Also, in a fit of nostalgia, you can listen to the tracks that you added to yourself in 2007.

Music generator: find a song for any life situation

VK Music has recently introduced a recommendation algorithm that suggests people and publics with similar tastes. There is also an endless stream of VK Mix, where the algorithms adjust to the user’s preferences.

Remixes are a kind of legacy of the Vkontakte music section

What about new releases. VK Music has the same problems as Yandex Music: the fate of future releases from Universal, Warner and Sony Music is unknown.

Apple Music

Where to listen: web version, iOS and Android apps
Music quality: AAC at 256 kbps, Lossless format available
Subscription trial period: month
How much does it cost: 169 R, there is a family subscription for 269 R for six people

Features. After Spotify left Russia, Apple Music is the main international music service available in the country. Apple Music provides a large library, recommendations, personalized playlists. You can sing along to your favorite songs using the Lyrics function: it works in karaoke mode.

What kind of music do Russians listen to

Apple Music works in conjunction with Shazam if it is installed on your device: you can listen to the newly found track in streaming. And if you want to wake up to your favorite music, the Clock app on iOS lets you choose the alarm sound from your Apple Music library.

To use the service, you need to resolve payment issues. App Store and Google Play do not accept Russian cards after Visa and Mastercard leave the country. You can pay for the service from your mobile phone account by linking it to your Apple ID.

How to recharge Apple ID for App Store and iTunes

What about new releases. Formally, new music appears in Apple Music, this is especially evident on the world chart. But there is a geoblock on it – in Russia, releases from the main recording companies cannot be listened to.

This is how the “Top 100 in the world” chart from Russia looks now. Gray indicates tracks that cannot be listened to

YouTube Music

Where to listen: web version, applications for iOS and Android
Quality of music: AAC up to 256 kbps/s
Test subscription period: month
How much it costs: 229 r, there is a family subscription for 269 p to six

Features. This is a Google music service that combines streaming and video hosting. The application and the recommendation system are familiar to everyone who used YouTube: you can like tracks and clips on the video platform to transfer them to the service. Access to YouTube Music is included with YouTube Premium.

You can use the music service both on YouTube and on a separate website

YouTube Music is available in two versions: free and paid. In the first one, you will have to put up with commercials and refuse to listen in the background. A peculiar plus of the service: you can find fan clips for tracks in it. You shouldn’t get too attached to them, as they can be removed from the library at any time.

Google services also cannot be paid with a Russian card, you will have to use the payment method from your mobile phone account. You can also create a foreign profile and pay for it from a foreign card.

How to replace YouTube in case of blocking: 4 alternatives

What about new releases. YouTube Music also has a geoblock for Russian users, but it’s easier to bypass it. Artists and record companies restrict access to their releases, but fans can upload live recordings and song selections to YouTube – they have access.

Where to listen: web version, apps for iOS and Android are called “Sound-HiFi”
Music quality: MP3 up to 320 kbps, Lossless format available
Subscription trial period: 30 days
Price: 169 R, also included in the Sber-Prime subscription for 199 R

900 02 Features. The service based on the Zvooq service was called Sber-zvuk until recently, but lost the prefix after blocking sanctions against Sberbank. In May 2022, Sber announced the sale of Zvuk and some other services.

In addition to listening to music and podcasts, you can also listen to audiobooks, sports and radio in the app. Under the latter, there is a personalized section “Waves” – among other things, there is a daily horoscope.

Non-musical content is personalized, but there are not very many recommendations for the user’s musical tastes: “Mix of the Day”, “News” and “Experiment”

The service operates in two versions: free and paid. The first one has ads, and access to the music database is limited. At the end of 2021, a virtual assistant appeared in Sound, which helps to recognize music, like Shazam, and answers questions about musicians. Also, streaming from Sber launched its own tool for transferring the media library from other services.

What about new releases. Sound has the same drawbacks as other Russian services: the fate of future releases from Universal, Warner and Sony Music is unknown.

MTS Music

Where to listen: web version, applications for iOS and Android
Music quality: AAC up to 192 kbps
Subscription trial period: 30 days 9 0131 How much: 169 Р

Features. MTS Music is based on Yandex Music and shares its music library with it. The main difference is that the tracks are broadcast in a higher quality format – AAC instead of MP3.

MTS streaming has a free version – with it a daily playlist is available, which changes depending on the user’s preferences, as well as free radio, selections from editors and playlists. Features like music recognition, the ability to create your own playlist and save songs for offline listening only appear with a subscription.

The best smart speakers: 7 models for any budget

Special advantages for MTS subscribers: free traffic and the ability to pay from a mobile phone account.
