The Nebula HDR engine is a purpose-built local dimming algorithm that produces stunning highlights with unparalleled depth. Trained on an instruction set of more than 150 videos and over 2000 still photos, the algorithm can dynamically adjust the HDR lighting needed to minimize blooming around individual dimming zones by 25%.

Our new Tri-Fan Technology directs air though precisely calculated cutouts in the chassis, sending airflow directly towards internal components to keep them cool in all conditions. The M16 features 319 heatsink fins, with each stack lined with ultra-thin copper fins as slim as 0.1mm. This allows for higher density and lower air resistance, with a total of 113,523 mm² of surface area. This all-copper construction continues to the full-width heatsink, which is double the size of a normal heatsink and covers the entire rear of the machine.

Liquid metal compound from Thermal Grizzly reduces CPU temperatures by up to 13°C compared to standard thermal paste. Applying it onto CPUs is delicate work, so ROG commissioned custom equipment to automate the process with mechanical precision, and designed a patented internal fence to contain the compound.

For gamers who want crisp images even in the most action-packed scenes, the ROG Zephyrus M16 offers a 16″ Nebula HDR display with great features: a mini-LED panel backlight, 16:10 aspect ratio, QHD resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 1100 cd/m² peak brightness. This option is especially good at displaying dark shades, which will be noticeable in games and when watching movies. The laptop is also available with a non-backlit mini-LED display with lower peak brightness (500 cd/m²), but with the same resolution and refresh rate. Thanks to the narrow frame, the relative screen area reaches 92%.

When the temperature of the CPU and GPU is below a certain level and the Silent mode is activated, the cooling system stops the fans, becoming completely silent. Heatsinks made of copper fins only 0.1mm thick are used to dissipate heat from hot components. This increases the total number of fins (up to 319, with a total heat dissipation area of 113,523 mm²), and their airflow resistance is significantly lower compared to conventional radiators, which have thicker fins. Of particular note is the full-size heatsink that occupies the entire back of the laptop case – it is twice as large as conventional ones.

Thermal Grizzly’s Liquid Metal is a much more effective thermal interface than conventional thermal pastes, but this exotic material requires delicate handling. To automate its application to the processor chip, the ROG team ordered special equipment. In addition, the CPU cooling block is designed to prevent liquid metal from leaking over time.

The AniMe Matrix display and OMNI virtual pet have both received an upgrade. The former now has more LEDs, which means more options for displaying animation clips, and OMNI returns with a whole bunch of mini-games. As you progress in these games, the AniMe Matrix display will get brighter, and when you reach a certain score in the Windows application for OMNI, new animation options will open.

ROG GameVisual allows you to quickly customize your display for the type of content you’re displaying, including games from different genres, by instantly switching between several preset modes. For example, in the first-person shooter mode, the brightness of dark shades is increased to make it easier to spot an enemy lurking in the shadows.
In addition to automatically switching between Silent, Performance and Turbo modes, the notebook supports the creation of user profiles with settings for specific applications. In such a profile, you can specify, for example, the configuration of the keyboard backlight, disable the Windows key or the touchpad – and Armory Crate will instantly activate these settings in accordance with the current task.
