El gobernador de Hidalgo, Julio Menchaca Salazar, es uno de los tantos morenitas que comenzó su carrera política en el PRI
Julio Menchaca Salazar es el nuevo gobernador de Hidalgo, que ganó las elecciones 2023 del 5 de junio con la alianza “Juntos Hacemos Historia” por Morena, PT, Nueva Alianza Hidalgo (PNAH).
El morenista es el primer gobernador de ese estado que no milita en el PRI, aunque su carrera y pasado es tricolor. Su gobierno sustituirá al priista Omar Fayad.
Durante el periodo de campañas dos encuestas lo pusieron por arriba de la priista Carolina Viggiano, quien tiene una larga carrera en ese estado y trabajo para los exgobernadores Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong y Jesús Murillo Karam.
Pero ¿quién es Menchaca, el senador que pidió licencia y arrasó en las votaciones del 5 de junio?
Te contamos sobre su trayectoria, pero antes, estos son algunos datos generales que debes conocer:
- Su nombre completo es Julio Ramón Menchaca Salazar
- Nació el 27 de diciembre de 1959; tiene 62 años
- Estudió Derecho en la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo (UAEH), universidad en la también dio clase
Quedó en séptimo lugar con el 8 % de los votos.
Su llegada a Morena
Tras una larga trayectoria en el PRI e intentar ganar por la vía independiente, Menchaca Salazar se unió en 2017 a Morena.
En 2018 fue postulado por Morena a senador por Hidalgo, junto con su compañera Angelica García Arrieta.
Menchaca y García ganaron al obtener 47.67 % de los votos; mientras que Nuvia Mayorga y Alejandra González recibieron 27.06 %.
El 15 de febrero pidió licencia como senador para contender por el cargo como gobernador de Hidalgo.

Candidatura y propuestas
Tras una encuesta de Morena entre Menchaca y Simey Olvera, el entonces senador salió ganador.
Sus rivales a la gubernatura de Hidalgo fueron:
- Carolina Viggiano, de “Va por Hidalgo” (PAN-PRI-PRD)
- Francisco Berganza, de Movimiento Ciudadano
- José Luis Lima, del Partido Verde
Julio Menchaca realizó siete propuestas:
- Unidad para la atención a personas con discapacidad
- Apoyo a las cuidadoras de personas con discapacidad
- Revocación de mandato en Hidalgo
- Fortalecimiento y equidad municipal
- Apoyos de emprendimientos para jóvenes
- Cambiar la Procuraduría estatal a Fiscalía
- Programa “construye tu camino”
Encuestas indicaron que la intención del voto estaba con Menchaca. El Financiero señaló que tenía cuatro puntos de diferencia con Viggiano; una de Consuta Mitofsky lo pone con ocho.
Pero los resultados fueron distintos, y no porque haya perdido, sino porque arrasó en las votaciones.
De acuerdo con el PREP, Menchaca obtuvo entre el 60.
4 y 63.2 % de los votos. El 5 de septiembre toma posesión.

El recibo de luz de 53 pesos
Durante la campaña hubo una polémica por un supuesto recibo de luz de Viggiano, en el que según paga 53 pesos de luz en su casa.
El asunto hubiera quedado ahí, pero la candidata culpó a Menchaca de la difusión del supuesto documento.
Agregó que el recibo en redes sociales es de un edificio, propiedad del morenista, ubicado en Salamanca 105, en Pachuca.

Mexico’s Green Ecological Party (PVEM) applied to the Hidalgo State Electoral Institute (IEEH) approves secession or expulsion of from the “ Juntos hasemos history ” coalition formed by the National Revival Movement (Morena), the Labor Party (PT) and the New Party Alliance (Honeycomb).
The news comes a day after licensed Senator Julio Menchaca was registered by four political institutions as a common candidate for governor of state.
However, in a press release, the Secretary General of the State Executive Committee Honorato Rodriguez Murillo noted that the decision was made due to the party’s interest in independent consolidation of its project throughout the territory.

Faced with this decision, he announced that members of the local political group have decided to opt for a single candidate, , as they seek to demonstrate that they are a “strong option” in Hidalgo.
It should be clarified that more than two hours after the announcement, the party has not yet announced who will represent the political option in the next elections scheduled for June next year.
However, despite the widespread information, the disputed party stated that will continue to work under the “Fourth Transformation” project, led by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).

With this decision of the Green Party , one more person will join the contest for the ownership of the local executive power, in which three people are already registered for this year’s elections.
The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) joined with the National Action Party (PAN) and the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) to form the Va por Hidalgo coalition, which nominated Carolina Viggiano Austria as the PRI candidate.
While, as already mentioned, Morena, PT and Panal registered Julio Menchaca at the State Electoral Institute on 21 March.
Finally, Francisco Xavier Berganza , flag bearer of the Civil Movement (MC) , who will run for the second time for his candidacy as he came in second with 27.88% of the vote in 2016, by PAN alone.

Hidalgo will be one of the six states that will take part in the June 5 elections. In this formation the government will be renewed only for the next six years; however, it may become a benchmark in local history because it is one of the last places in the country to be ruled only by the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).
Approximately 2,247,440 citizens who are registered in the last reduction of the voter list will be able to take part in the local elections ; however, this figure is subject to change once the enrollment process closes and changes are made on January 31st.
