After growing up listening to my dad’s prog records which weren’t in the best condition, this release sounds absolutely fantastic! Can’t recommend enough.

fantastic album, nice pressing, sounds excellent, the best for your buck.

    • Comparing this pressing to an Australian first press, which uses original UK pink island label metalwork, is generally difficult as there are caveats to both.

First I wanna say, if you’re looking for the best ratio of sound to price then the 50th anniversary remix is definitely it. More than often the discs are pressed super well and they do sound awesome. However I prefer the original stereo mix as it’s how I first heard it and how I learned to love the album.

Both of my LPs are at least EX when it comes to labels and surfaces in this comparison to try and keep noise out of the picture. Right off the bat, this Peckham mastered (4U/4U) is super punchy and loud. Schizoid man jumps out the speakers as it’s supposed to. The rest of the tracks sound super dynamic and anyone that owned it would be super happy with it, because not only is the vinyl quality pretty great for the time, it’s way less expensive than earlier UK pressings.

The Aussie on the other hand is very different right off the bat, being cut at a lower volume, so much so that the surface noise started to become noticeable at my preferred volume even on something like Schizoid man. But, when you’re able to get past the noise, the sound is an improvement in basically every department compared to the 4U/4U. It’s less compressed, more realistic, has deeper bass, and is super balanced. It’s easily the best I’ve heard all of these songs. One thing that kind of sucks to me though is how loud Epitaph is for some reason. Where the 4U/4U has a balanced volume throughout, the Aussie pressing is consistent except for Epitaph being cut way louder than the other songs. At least to my ears. It calms down more after the intro but I am pretty sure the song is just louder than all the others.

Overall I’m very happy to have both as the 4U/4U is perhaps more cohesive sounding, but doesn’t sound as good as the Aussie in the right conditions given that the original source tape probably wasn’t used. The thing with the Aussie (and assumingly the UK 1st pressing as they probably sound the same) is that the vinyl quality really comes out when you have to turn the volume up. If surface noise really bothers you then you’d probably have better luck finding a NM version of the 4U/4U then a Aussie 1st or solid pink Island UK. I hope to own a true first pressing someday, but the Australian 1st will probably remain my go to for very detailed listening. I’d recommend picking up a clean pressing of the Australian if you want to upgrade from this 4U/4U or any pressing from this period.

    • This Atlantic US pressing sounds beautifuly. The sound is analog warm and very crisp.

    • Dull sound quality. Not recommended, unless you just want this version for rarity.

    • Bad sound quality. The dynamic range is preserved as typical for this year, but serious lack of detail in the sound.

    • Nearly no bass. Odd mixing for sure. Low noise, 5-6/10.

    • Perfect silent copy! Ran into it by accident and had to buy it 😁

    • referencing In The Court Of The Crimson King (LP, Album, Reissue, Stereo, 200-gram, Gatefold) KCLP1

This 200g reissue sounds phenomenal. I can’t imagine an original sounding any better. My first KC LP.

    Raspberry color and its combination

Raspberry is the blazing passion of red cooled by the intellect of blue. The color is calm, with royal restraint. He found his place in opulent styles such as Empire, Baroque, Renaissance.

Heroism is another interpretation of crimson. In England, for a long time it was the color of uniforms, and raspberry trousers are still accepted. In Ukraine, a whole period of history was assigned to the crimson color, as heroic. It also means respect. Almost all over the world, the crimson color belongs to the nobility and subjects of the highest power.

“Raspberry ringing” has nothing to do with raspberries and color, but it so happened that very sonorous bells were cast in the Belgian city of Mechelen (and in French Malines). But this has long been forgotten, and now, when they talk about “raspberry ringing”, everyone imagines a smooth, soft sound, just like this red-pink color – pleasant and aesthetic.

      Shades of raspberry. Photo

Shades of crimson are on the border between red and pink, and if we consider the classic tone, it is very difficult to say which gamut it belongs to. But we can say with confidence: frankly pink and pronounced red tones fit into the general palette of raspberry. Let’s take a look at them:

Light Crimson – bright, shade closer to red, but at the same time too light for it. This color is usually used as an accent – in a small amount.
Medium crimson is the color that most often catches our eye from this range. It is exactly in the middle between pink and red. Moderately bright, pronounced and saturated, medium in lightness, he won our hearts a long time ago.
Crimson Red – it is darker than medium crimson and the red in it outweighs the pink by a fraction, as a result, it can be safely put in the red range. Restrained, proud – this is a very noble color.
Vivid Crimson is a shade closer to pink and has a piercing brightness, so it should be used with caution.
Ruby raspberry – a shade with a purple undertone, quite dark, noble, saturated. With it, you can create many expensive and aesthetic combinations.
Dark Crimson is the ultimate dark crimson without losing its sensual, sophisticated nature. He is calm and deep.

      Raspberry color combination

The combination of crimson red with several shades is a complex combination. Example:

with yellow-green – makes a strong impression. It seems as if yellow-green glows against a crimson background, and even twilight cannot dissuade this. Therefore, it is worth using the “backlight” to a limited extent and carefully.

with pear – they gently complement each other. It is desirable that there is more raspberry than pear. In equal proportions, pear, as it were, “fights” with raspberry, loses, and in a ratio of 1: 2 it looks calm.

You can complement the combination with light sand, orange-brown and pale light green.

Combination of crimson with other colors

Juicy raspberry shade combines juicy, attractive. The best contrast for him will be thermal. In it, he reveals his essence. But the light contrast can effectively emphasize the main tone. When combining this tone, consider the saturation of tones: they should be on a par with it, not brighter or paler. This will help you maintain the harmony of the composition.

Combination of raspberry and pink is a soft, contrasting lightness combination of related shades. Pink color can be imagined as a glare of different depth and saturation. You can also achieve a slight thermal contrast by using purple in combination. Consider a combination with white-lilac, mother-of-pearl pink, lilac, Barbie, red-pink.

Combination of colors: crimson and red – can also be considered a tandem with related tones, but in this case the difference in lightness in them will be less pronounced, with the exception of burgundy, in combination with which medium crimson will be the illuminated side. A palette of watermelon, scarlet, ruby, maroon, wine has been compiled for you.

Crimson pairs with orange for a rich, warm pair. It will suit both light, medium, and bright shades of orange. This combination can be considered fashionable, since recently the trend of combining rich pink and orange is in trend. The palette includes peach, orange-coral, dark coral, red-orange, fiery.

Crimson color: pair with yellow for a summery look. A light, warm, light-contrasting combination will be most pleasant if it involves soft and complex shades of yellow, such as champagne, apricot, wheat, mustard, amber.

The combination of raspberry and warm green is the same summer, natural, but differs by a slight thermal contrast, which gives balance to the pair. Harmony is also hidden in the approximation of the colors involved in the combination to complementary ones (red and green). Consider a palette featuring green peas, chartreuse, olive, marsh, brown-green.

Combination of crimson and cool green is built on thermal contrast with an echo of additional shades, so it looks elegant and harmonious. However, it is better to choose muted colors, as they will be able to emphasize the grace of the main color to a greater extent. For example: the color of water, light gray-green, menthol, emerald, dark gray-green.

Combination of blue, cyan and crimson is the ultimate thermal contrast that brings out the warm, rich mid crimson. Blue combines to create delicate scales that allow the base color to shine, while blues bring a strict element. The range includes water blue, sky blue, dark turquoise, Prussian blue, dark blue.

Color combination: crimson and violet is a palette united by the red color that is contained in each of the shades. First of all, it is worth mentioning the softness of the combination: not very light and not very dark tones of purple, with a slight predominance of red in the composition – a good pair for medium raspberry, for example, glycine, thistle, sky blue, blackberry, grape, dark purple.

Raspberry combined with brown . The contrast in this combination is not high, but brown, as a base color, successfully emphasizes the saturation of the medium crimson. Consider combinations with oak, bronze, chestnut, chocolate, dark chocolate.

Raspberry and neutral: combination with white, beige, grey, black . A medium crimson shade tends to dominate in a pair, so any tone that is ready to give way in combination will be beneficial. These are the properties of neutrals. Each such tone brings a certain mood to the pair, so white is a bright, heroic contrast, beige is grace and sophistication, gray is nobility, and black is expensive sophistication. For example, a combination with creamy, latte, gray-lilac, steel, black.

Light raspberry and combinations with it

Like all shades of raspberry, pale raspberry is alien to pallor. A radiant, delightful tone is designed to shine, decorate with itself, glare. It looks wonderful in separate elements, almost like a decoration, but its full use is not available for every color type. Only a girl with a high contrast appearance, ideal figure and appearance can afford light crimson. The color illuminates the face with red, makes it fat, with a cold skin tone with a gray undertone emphasizes pallor. However, the correct use will favorably emphasize the dignity in order to make a queen out of a girl.

Harmonious combinations with light crimson include white-purple, shrimp, cherry, orange-peach, fiery, apricot, wheat,
bright gold, chartreuse, dark grey-green, blackbird egg color, blueberry, purple,
      red -violet, chestnut, beige, anthracite.

      Red crimson: how to combine?

Crimson Red – deep, rich, intriguing, but it is more modest than its bright compatriots, and therefore can be safely used by almost all color types. The tone energizes, successfully takes root in different styles, but prefers to dominate in combinations. By choosing this shade, you can easily change your business style to an evening one.

Combination of crimson red bloom with sakura, sunset, Chinese red, manga, tangerine, dark yellow, old gold, khaki, emerald, sky blue, sapphire, charoite, dark purple, coffee, dark beige, black gray .

      Vivid crimson and its combination

Bright crimson emphasizes the origin of the aspen shade from pink: if you lighten the medium crimson, then you can just sleep in pink crimson.
First of all, he twitches femininity, tenderness and at the same time the desire to stand out – beauty should be in sight. But it is precisely beauty, since the brightness and lightness of the tone can harm a non-contrasting appearance, emphasize figure flaws, and pallor of the face. This tone will suit golden blondes and contrasting brunettes.

Vivid Crimson matches Pink Peach, Deep Pink, Mahogany, Jacco’s Last Breath, Carrot, Apricot, Bright Gold, Marsh, Malachite, Baby Blue, Royal Blue, Lavender, Purple, Red Brown, Papyrus, Wet asphalt.

      Ruby-raspberry: successful combinations

Ruby Crimson – A subtle, deep, dark tone with purple undertones. He is restrained and at the same time mysteriously alluring. Fully reveals itself in the evening lighting, brilliance and velvet overflows. It goes well with a business wardrobe. The tone is less whimsical than bright crimson: it slims, successfully sets off the face, adds contrast to the appearance, especially next to the warm skin pallet.

Ruby raspberry combines well with royal pink, strawberry, light red, golden copper, red, wheat, dark gold, gray-gray-green, parina, turquoise, blue-green, amethyst, grape, dark chocolate, gray- purple, dark black.

      Dark crimson: combination

Dark raspberry closer to burgundy. Although it is on the same level of lightness as ruby-raspberry, it is not difficult to distinguish it by its red undertone. This shade completes the raspberry transition from hot pink to burgundy (pink to red). A calm, proud tone has an inner radiance. It is universal in the wardrobe, suits many color types, slims and successfully emphasizes the appearance.

Dark raspberry combo composed of cotton wool, clover, coral red, sea buckthorn, ginger, pale gold, tan, faint frog, emerald, dark turquoise, thunderstorm, red-violet, eggplant, dark chestnut, lead , blue-black.

Who will suit crimson in clothes?

Raspberry has a fairly wide range of shades: from blatantly bright to dark and restrained. The only thing they have in common is saturation. Each color type will be able to choose a favorable range for itself. Let’s take a look: how to do it?
“Spring” will be especially beautiful in bright crimson and light crimson tones, darker ones will suit her too, but you will have to increase the contrast of appearance.
For “winter” all bright and saturated shades are good: bright, light, ruby-crimson.
Moderate-bright: medium, ruby, dark crimson – gamma for “summer”.
“Autumn” will be limited to medium crimson and dark crimson tones.

Raspberry color in clothes and combinations

Crimson things can be found in stores in any period of color fashion. This is a very attractive, bright color. It can be worn both on a holiday and on weekdays, at a party or a business meeting. It is less flashy than red, less sentimental than pink. His nobility and sophistication are worthy of a royal rank. The hue shines like a precious stone, forcing you to bow your head in front of you.

Its bright nature also appears in combination: the tone looks most successful next to neutral, strict shades that only set it off.

      White crimson

White-crimson combination is one of the embodiments of royal grandeur. Rich crimson shines against the background of “light” and purity, and only gold and beige can add more charm to this range.
To increase the contrast, black elements are added to the pair, however, the monochrome pattern will shift the main color, which will reduce the value of the combination.

      Grey-crimson

Grey-raspberry combination includes a silver pair of raspberry shades.
Gray successfully sets off the main tone, slightly clouding its pronounced nature, but also making it pleasing to the eye, introducing everyday rigor and restraint. Silver, like any brilliant color next to deep raspberry, increases its value as a precious shade.

      Black crimson

Black and crimson is a feminine, evening pathos, but with the addition of a monochrome print, its chicness is reduced to an everyday bow.
Most often, such combinations are complemented by white, gray, gold, beige.

      Beige crimson

Beige-crimson is a seductive, elegant, feminine look, at the same time strict, businesslike. Light shades of beige successfully emphasize the saturation of the main tone, but darker ones become a truly graceful frame.
Most often, brown and black are added to the pair.

      Brown crimson

The brown-crimson combination speaks of the related basis of these colors: it is a harmonious, natural weave, saturated, but not contrasting in lightness. In addition to grace, a natural basis is visible in it, which relaxes with its predictability. The gamma can be completed with yellow-orange and black shades.

      Raspberry yellow

Yellow-raspberry pair is one of the simplest combinations. The more complex the shade of yellow and closer to golden, the more profitable raspberry appears in it. Bright, light tones of rose-crimson can look next to pure yellow. You can complement the combination with white, black and even blue.

      Raspberry orange

Orange-crimson – a bright pair, the basis of which lies in the orange-pink combination. The light and dark components of the tones come into resonance in it, which combines the red color as part of both shades. It has its own charm, especially if the shades of orange are light with a preponderance to red, for example, coral. You can expand the palette with green, brown and black.

      Raspberry Violet

Purple-crimson, like orange-crimson, has a common fundamental tone – red, however, if in the previous contrast was based on the light difference, then in this case the contrast will be thermal, since purple is a colder shade than the main tone.
The palette can be diluted with pink or red.

      Raspberry pink

Pink-raspberry combination can be attributed to the scale in one tone. Pale pinks can be obtained by heavily diluting the base color with white, and deviations towards fuchsia can be characterized by crimson distortion in lighting. Thus, pink shades and rich crimson create a gradient that is understandable to our eye as a play of light and shadow.
This combination is diluted with white or red.

      Raspberry Red

Crimson Red is the only combination where the main tone becomes a secondary one. Pronounced red surpasses almost any shades in its brightness, and in this case, rich crimson becomes its shadow.
The composition is finished in white, dark blue, brown or black.

      Blue crimson

The blue-crimson combination is based on thermal contrast: the dark, cold tones of twilight make the rich crimson shine like a gem. Such a combination can be both business and evening. Successfully added glitter to such a pair will enhance its impression.

      Raspberry blue

The crimson-blue pair has a high aesthetic value. In addition to thermal contrast, it is fully represented by light. Delicate, bright, spring combination can please the eye, refresh, give strength.
Most often it is diluted with white and gray.

      Raspberry green

Raspberry Green – Complementary color contrast that can be enhanced with a brighter shade of green and closer to red rich crimson, or smoothed out with gray green and dark crimson. But in my opinion, the best options would be to bring green into the color pattern of clothes, next to brown and neutral shades.
Such a pair can be supplemented with pink, brown, black, red, orange.

      Raspberry color in the interior

Raspberry color is used in upholstery of upholstered furniture and walls in rich interiors, but in this combination, crimson does not pretend to be pompous.
Its ability to reduce space (due to which large rooms seem cozier), and green-yellow and pear – to expand, give a strange illusion of space in space. It also seems to glow from within. This combination is suitable for decorating basements, yellow shades will compensate for the lack of sunlight. In such rooms there will always be day.

Due to the high contrast of olive with yellow-green, it is worth observing the proportions: crimson should be three times more yellow-green.

For interior design, use soft fabrics, comfortable armchairs, sofas with cushions and blankets, cozy carpets. Coffee tables will be appropriate.

The interior in raspberry tones does not accept asceticism, so it can be abundantly supplemented with shelves, books, figurines, vases and other things.

In general, the crimson color brings a certain fullness to the interior. Even seemingly unpretentious interiors flourish under his influence. But the color is revealed especially freely in rich, expensive decorations.
