Car Audio Wiring FAQs
All aftermarket car stereos can use the same wiring harness. Many factory car stereos, however, require specific wiring harnesses to connect. Consult our Vehicle Fit Guide for more.
The stereo needs a ground wire to function. If you don’t have a ground wire (or the wire is loose), then your stereo will have excessive signal noise (static, squealing, etc.
) that interferes with the audio
Typically, the red speaker wire is positive and the black wire is negative. Two other common configurations are silver positive and copper negative or white/yellow positive and green negative. Also, if a wire has a stripe, this usually means it is the negative wire.
The most common connectors you will need are crimp connections, seamless connectors, seam-type connectors, non-insulated connectors and insulated connectors.

This item was purchased so that I can listen to my stereo headphones in bed while my wife sleeps peacefully at night without being disturbed. I figured the 50 foot length would somehow degrade the sound quality from our HDTV, but to my surprise the quality is excellent. I highly recommend this item and you can’t beat the price. The product came sealed in a small plastic bag. It’s okay, but upon opening the package, it turned out that inside it was heavily covered with something like a silicone-based lubricant or something like that. Heavier than WD 40. I wiped it off and washed my hands, but it was a little annoying. I don’t know why it was so packaged, but I’m pretty sure the outer insulation wasn’t damaged. Maybe it was not worth opening 100 years? <laughs>

I bought two of them to match two RevainBasics lightweight on-ear headphones. Two months later, only one earpiece worked and the cable twitched. (I had to maneuver to make it even work.

Cannot comment on the sound quality and durability of this cable (2 5 feet) as I only use it with cheap ones headphones to watch TV while my wife sleeps in the bedroom and reads on the couch or plays the piano in the next room so as not to listen to music.
