Lovers of high-quality audio now and then scold the Bluetooth path for the insufficient quality of the transmitted sound, and if the receiver is a small inexpensive speaker, then, as a rule, there is no need to talk about sound quality. This is partly why manufacturers are trying to add various additional features to Bluetooth speakers that should make the device more attractive to the user. CKY CK128 – is a wireless speaker that, among other things, can be a cool night light. Let’s go figure it out.

Packaging and Contents
The device comes in a completely nondescript cardboard box with the CKY logo.
Upon delivery, such a box can be crushed, the cardboard lining inside and the cylindrical shape of the column itself saves.
The delivery set is ascetic and simple – a speaker, a microUSB charging cable and instructions. It is assumed that you already have G/U.
That’s the whole set. Well, on the other hand, what else can you expect for $30?
Appearance
The appearance of the column is very good. The only thing that stands out from the concept is the blue speaker grille. The rest of the column is a neat little white cylinder. On the front side of the cylinder are the power and volume buttons, which, when connected to various devices, can start and change tracks. The movement of the buttons is tight and clear.
The charging port and memory card slot are located on the back surface.
At the bottom of the speaker are function keys for changing playback modes and speaker operation, setting a timer and a reset button.
At the top is the most incomprehensible design element for me – the blue speaker grille.
Why blue? Why not make it white? The soul of a designer is darkness. A metal bezel is installed around the grille, touching which you can turn the backlight on and off, as well as change colors.
In general, CKY made a fairly elegant device, but, like most Chinese manufacturers, did not pay attention to the little things. It’s not that it’s a huge minus, but it’s annoying. Due to the shape and almost complete whiteness, the column can easily fit into almost any interior.
Sound
In the description of the column on the site, the power of the speaker is 3W, on the column itself it is written that 4W. I don’t know which of them is right, but purely subjectively, the column is very loud. When connected to a laptop and at maximum volume, the speaker just yells so that being in the same room with it personally becomes uncomfortable for me. At maximum volume, the sound thoroughly loses its readability and some third-party noises and creaks appear. This is logical, since, I suspect, in this mode, the speaker works “for wear”, not really caring about the sound quality and its own insides.
If you reduce the sound by 40 percent, then details appear and the main sound picture emerges. Due to its shape and location of the speaker, the speaker itself works as a subwoofer, the sound is appropriate. The frequencies are dominated by bass and low mids. There is a very limited number of high frequencies, which may be good – the sound does not cut the ears up to the maximum values.
It is absolutely impossible to listen to music with such a sound if you want to “absorb” all its shades and nuances, but it is quite possible to listen to your favorite track just like that. A decent amount of bass will make it possible to feel a certain “pump” on rhythmic compositions. The column is also good for watching series.
Of course, lovers of high-quality audio or Dolby 5.1\Atmos sound, etc. will not be delighted, which is natural. But what kind of high-quality audio can we talk about for $30?
Operation
When the speaker is turned on, a pleasant female voice in English notifies everyone present about the inclusion and the backlight lights up.
That’s what I liked about her. Single clicks on the metal bezel on top of the speaker allow you to change modes – four levels of warm white, blue, red and color change. In the color change mode, you can fix the backlight on a specific color, or continue changing modes. I must say that the warm white at the speaker is very pleasant, and the levels are chosen very well. The minimum level is enough not to wake the person sleeping next to you and see the contents of the bedside table, and the maximum white level is enough to illuminate the entire room. The rest of the modes are already purely for an amateur, there is no practical use in other colors, unless your imagination throws up options for use.
When turned on, the speaker creates a Bluetooth network called CKY128 and connects without any problems. The buttons on the front of the cylinder can control the audio player, although sometimes they work unpredictably. When connected to an iPad, attempts to turn up the volume caused the video currently being watched to change.
FM radio works well, how well an FM receiver without an antenna can work in a city. Card playback works, cards up to 64GB are supported, but this method has always seemed very complicated to me. And if this can still work in portable speakers for nature, then in this column, designed for home use, the solution is already redundant. The buttons below allow you to loop the track being played and also enable a voice reminder at a specified interval. Useless thing, in my opinion.
The column is charged with a current of about 0.7A in 3 hours and 20 minutes, which corresponds to a capacity of 2200mAh (this is confirmed by some reviewers). At a volume comfortable for watching TV shows at home (30 – 50%), the column worked for about 8 hours, which can be considered an excellent result. Yes, if you cut it to the full in nature, then you can land the battery much faster.
Conclusions
Bluetooth – Chinese stores are full of speakers of all sorts and stripes a little more than completely.
They are trying to take the number of functions, aggressive and diverse design, water resistance and the devil knows what else. Specifically, this speaker does not stand out in terms of sound from other cheap devices, except that the maximum volume is really decent. But as a night light that can be placed on the bedside table, watching TV shows through it during the day and using the backlight at night, the column is simply wonderful. I think to leave it for these purposes. Moreover, $30 is a low price for an experiment.
