dates and savings hacks

The most popular question that worries millions of buyers in Russia every autumn is the size of discounts on the sale “ Black Friday ”. We took the liberty of finding out in which stores this promotion takes place, and where buyers can expect pleasant discounts *.

Concise answers to your questions about Black Friday:

⏰ Dates0005

* We are Backit, the official cashback service for more than 800 stores in Russia and around the world. Through Backit, stores return money to customers: 10-15% of the amount of purchases in the form of cashback.

When is Black Friday 2022 in Russia?

Traditionally, the Black Friday sale will take place on the last Friday of the month — November 25, 2022.

Most stores try to start the promotion on November 25th and extend it over the coming weekend, until Monday November 28th.

However, in pursuit of customers, some stores start Black Friday a little earlier. For example, Black Friday in M-Video started already on October 22 – a month earlier than other retailers. We recommend checking the dates of Black Friday on the official websites of stores.

Until Black Friday 2022 left:

Black Friday 2022 in Russia: list of stores

In 2022, more than 80 partner stores of our service participate in the Black Friday sale. You can supplement your discounts with cashback from Backit: choose a store from the list below, and we will refund you up to 30% of the purchase price. Recall that the sale will begin on the morning of November 25, 2022, and the best prices for goods will be valid at the start of the sale.

Black Friday in electronics stores:

Although electronics remains the most popular category of purchases on Black Friday from year to year, discounts of more than 30% should not be expected – competition in this niche is high, therefore the marginality of goods is low, and it is possible to make a discount on electronics not every manufacturer.

Black Friday in marketplaces:

Marketplaces charge sellers a commission of 2 to 24% of the cost of the purchased goods, so in order to attract customers, they may well make a discount of 18-20% of the original price of the goods.

Black Friday at cosmetics sellers:

Cosmetics have been and remain a hit in the autumn period, when all major manufacturers reduce prices and increase cashback rates. Don’t miss the opportunity to double your savings 😉

Black Friday in clothing and footwear stores:

BF 2022 is also a great opportunity to update your winter and demi-season wardrobe. Fortunately, this year at least 9 cool sellers of clothes and shoes participate in the promotion.

Black Friday at home stores:

The construction season has passed, demand has fallen, which means that DIY stores and power tool brands are discounting their products.

Black Friday in children’s stores:

Black Friday in jewelry stores:

We advise you to make a list of purchases that you want to make in advance, so as not to let the abundance of crossed-out price tags during the promotion confuse you. Getting a good discount and at the same time returning cashback for purchases is real! Choose any of the major online stores presented on this page and buy with a double benefit for yourself!

The Favorable Price Festival will start very soon!

How often is Black Friday?

The blackest Black Friday sale takes place only once a year, on the last Friday of November. In 2022, the worldwide action will take place on the 25th. For exactly one day, sellers will lower the prices of their goods, and shopping centers will be filled with buyers.

The very tradition of holding a sale on this day came to us from the United States of America, where after the nationwide Thanksgiving Day holiday, which always takes place on Thursday, many people took an extra day of vacation on Friday at their own expense to arrange a short vacation (with Thursday to Sunday) and spend more time with your family.

And since Thanksgiving Day is one of the most important holidays in the USA, the mood these days was extremely non-working. Far-sighted store owners decided to take advantage of this and agreed to hold a sale on Friday. In addition to the obvious benefit in the form of a large flow of customers, sellers also receive an unobvious advantage: they get rid of stock balances before the New Year.

Gradually, the tradition of holding a large sale on this day came to us in Russia. Moreover, one of the first stores that introduced Russians to Black Friday was the Eldorado electronics hypermarket. By the way, that was nine years ago, back in 2013.

What do they buy at the sale?

Since the list of “black” sellers whose windows will show off the bright inscription “sale” on November 25 is very extensive, it is extremely difficult to say unequivocally which goods are in maximum demand. And since you can’t get the most objective statistics on all participants in the promotion, let’s focus on the data of marketplaces that offer a wide range, and therefore accumulate a huge amount of order data.

The list of popular items on BF starts, of course, with electronics and home appliances. Throughout the year, buyers look at gadgets, study reviews, compare prices, and finally wait for the coveted discounts. This applies to both small electronics like fitness bracelets and large household appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines. Again, on this day, prices are reduced for all products, regardless of their category.

The second most popular product group is clothing and footwear. And of course, most of the items sold are for women. The upcoming winter and the November sale are excellent reasons to warm up and buy festive clothes for the New Year: as a gift to your loved ones and yourself.

The third category is accessories. Our smartphones, laptops, clothes and shoes require constant care. And accessories help in this matter: for gadgets, these can be covers and cleaning products, and for clothes and shoes – rollers, jewelry, brushes and much more. The average check in the accessories category is small, but the sales volume is really serious.

Black Friday: discounts and promotions

Black Friday in the USA, and throughout the rest of the world, is the main holiday for those who love quality things and know how to save money. Just one day a year – the first Friday after Thanksgiving – all the stores in America agree and for the whole day bring down the prices of almost all their goods to record levels! On ordinary days and on holidays in the US, you will often find discounts of 20-30 percent. Not bad! But for Black Friday, a 20% discount is just for chickens to laugh at! On this day, you can easily buy your favorite things at half price, and even cheaper – the main thing is not to miss the moment!

Black Friday is especially hot every year! At the end of October, many stores begin to flirt with their customers by offering nice small discounts – a kind of aperitif before a huge feast!

30% from Levis, 15% from Amazon, 10% from Backcountry… so far this is just a seed. The real madness starts on Black Friday! It is the first Friday after Thanksgiving that turns deep black!

By the way, why black in particular?

Many versions. In addition to the fact that retailers work hard this Friday, well, just in a black way, which characterizes this celebration in the best possible way for us, there are several more theories. Tellingly, they are all related to trade in one way or another.

The first version is pragmatic: the sellers themselves brought the name Black Friday to the USA. In those distant times, when people still used ballpoint pens, there was a rule in retail: losses were recorded with red paste, profits with black. And since the period leading up to Black Friday was not very often characterized by brisk trading, the trade balance abounded in red tones. But immediately after Thanksgiving, when people went for gifts for the upcoming Christmas holidays, this trend changed dramatically – the red pen went into the long drawer, and its place was occupied by a black one for a long time!

The second version is lyrical: the association “Black Friday – sales” came a little later. The Philadelphia cops were the first to name Black Friday after Thanksgiving, simply unable to find other words to describe the fantastic scale of traffic jams that paralyzed the entire city that day. In part, they were aggravated by the strike of bus drivers, and therefore there were even more cars on the streets – everyone went for gifts. Drivers, law enforcement officers, and everyone else were so nervous that they called this day black out of emotion – and so the name stuck.

Now it is impossible to say exactly why Black Friday in America is black, and not red, blue or crazy. Maybe it’s because the hard-working salespeople are working their ass off, or because of blackened sales reports, or because traffic jams this Friday are a black day for the police … Perhaps all three reasons are to blame for this. Now no one knows for sure. But it seems to me that this is even good – a note of mystery has not yet spoiled any holiday!

Now let’s talk about what we know for sure!

1. Black Friday in America: what date?

Calculating exactly when Black Friday USA is quite simple. To do this, we just need to look at the calendar. First, let’s count the fourth Thursday of November. On this day, Americans celebrate one of the main national holidays – Thanksgiving Day.

It’s even easier – the day following this holiday is Black Friday. Mark the date and never miss it. It’s better to check your favorite American online stores in advance, even if you are not going to buy anything. So, just out of curiosity – you will find a lot of cool emotions.

2. Black Friday: a list of online stores.

Initially, when Black Friday was just beginning to be celebrated with steep discounts, in the 60s of the last century, there were no online stores yet. For your discount, you had to go to the nearest store, stand in a crazy queue there, and only then get to the cherished goal – goods with discounts.

Although the situation is different today, one thing is for sure: despite the fact that the Black Friday sale on the Internet will be incredibly magnificent, generous and long, we, alas, will miss many discounts. And all because Black Friday in the US is still mostly a day of discounts in classic offline stores. Many of them open already at midnight, others in the morning before dawn, others do not close at all. And people… people take a queue ahead of time, and patiently, and sometimes not very much, wait for the guards to open the doors in order to rush into the store like crazy, knocking everything in their path and raking up heaps of boxes with bewitching stickers -70%, -80%, -90%.

This does not mean that you and I should not hope for Black Friday in November – there will be a lot of discounts on the Internet. But offline there will be even more of them. However, in this case, the Americans have one more discount holiday in store for you and me – and this is Cyber Monday. On this day, the carnival of discounts comes to the Internet. But this is a topic for a separate article.

Results

In the meantime, I would like to sum up a little:

  1. Black Friday in the US is a cool opportunity to make a bargain.
