Best Buy Black Friday 2023 – What to Expect 

As one of the top electronics retailers in the U. S., Best Buy offers a rich selection of computers, appliances, TVs, cameras, audio systems, and smartphones, most of which get discounted for the Black Friday event. The wide variety of products and the major discounts offered in the previous Black Friday editions have turned this retailer’s event into a long-awaited one for many customers.

This year’s Black Friday opening hours are still to be announced. However, chances are that prices will significantly drop on various categories of products. In the last few years, the prices dropped so much that many shoppers decided on camping out in front of the retailer’s stores just to make sure they get those bargains.

Deals will likely be available both online and in-store in 2023 as well. The retailer releases pre-Black Friday ads, and some of these deals may be available from October. You can see them online on the retailer’s official website when the time comes. How to prepare advertising campaigns for Black Friday

In Russia, Black Friday takes place in the last week of November – in 2020 it falls on the 27th. We at the agency are already in full swing preparing advertising campaigns for online stores and marketplaces, and we decided to share with you a must-do list, in every point of which we are sure, because we have tested everything in action.

The plan is as follows:

  • We segment the audience and think over the mechanics.
  • Update text ads on search.
  • We create banners, teasers, creatives and conduct A/B tests.
  • We are announcing a campaign to warm up the audience.
  • We plan how to keep the dynamics of purchases in December.
  • Adjusting the advertising budget.

Segmenting the audience and thinking through the mechanics

Black Friday is traditionally awaited by those who have already appreciated the brand’s products, regularly use them and therefore will be happy with the discount, but we always cover not only the current audience, but also those who have been there for a long time or have never been Online.

0002 There are cool mechanics in Google Ads that we love to use on Black Friday – these are “Promotion” and “Countdown”.

Promotion

An extension with which you can add additional lines to the ad with the name of the promotion, its duration, promotional product, discount amount, etc. This is also cool because the extra line gives you a plus in visibility among competitive ads.

Countdown

In ads with this mechanic, the days and then the hours before the promotion are first counted down – this is how we trigger the user to go to the site, add him to bookmarks and not miss the sale.

In addition, we are expanding the keys – since mid-October, the words “Black Friday” are increasingly appearing in user requests.

We create banners, teasers, creatives and conduct A/B tests

To achieve the best CTR and CR performance, we test ads. One of the tests was as follows: the control segment “A” was shown a banner with the inscription “Black Friday”, and segment “B” with the inscription “Black Friday”. The banner with English writing was clicked more often and there were more conversions from it. This option was left.

2 weeks before the action, we always have banners, teasers and creatives ready so that we can agree on them before the test (in companies where more than one person makes the decision, this takes several days). For those clients who already promoted with us on Black Friday last year, we take 2-3 banners with the best conversion and form new ones.

This approach helped us maintain the dynamics of purchases in December and reduce CPO in November-December for the paid traffic channel by 32% compared to the pre-promotion period.

In general, it’s good practice to carefully add all customer data to CRM, BigQuery, or wherever you store it after a promotion, so that you can use it later and thus increase the useful effect of an advertising campaign.

Discounts ranging from 40 to 50% are considered by consumers to be a profitable offer for making purchases on the day of the promotion. If you give customers a 10-20% discount during a shopping frenzy, expect the customer to not take advantage of it – over 36% of respondents consider this discount to be negligible, so most likely they will not decide to make a purchase.

The habit of Russian consumers to give preference to offline purchases with the opportunity to really evaluate the goods is 55%, therefore, the action will go most actively in shopping centers and ordinary stores.
