Be careful.laurel c.2 weeks after purchasing, one of the batteries wouldn’t turn deactivate the charge cycle on the Stenkol charger. It the battery became very hot and I’m no longer comfortable using it. These batteries are pretty expensive to be dying in 2 weeks1

AA/AAA batteries after 7 months of storage / Habr

Last year I tested 198 batteries (44 AA models and 35 AAA models). Then I measured the battery capacity immediately after charging, as well as after a week and a month of storage.

I did an additional test on most battery models seven months after charging. The results are interesting.

The batteries were discharged using the analyzer Oleg Artamonov. Batteries with a capacity of more than 1500 mAh were discharged with a current of 2500 mA, batteries with a smaller capacity – with a current of 1000 mA. As grandiose testing showed, the capacity of AA batteries at 500 and 2500 mA currents is almost identical, so I discharged the batteries with a large current to speed up the process.

I compared the watt-hour capacity immediately after charging and after seven months of storage.

Several batteries were completely discharged after seven months. These are Varta 2700 AA, Ansmann 2700 AA, Cosmos 2500 AA, Maha Powerex 1000 AAA, Cosmos 800 AAA, Navigator 1000 AAA.

Batteries Robiton 2850 AA, Kosmos 2800 AA have lost more than 80% capacity in seven months.

Batteries GP High Energy 2700 AA, Navigator 2500 AA, Navigator 2700 AA, Camelion 2300 AA, Camelion 800 AAA, Varta 1000 AAA, GP 1000 AAA, FlexPower 900 AAA, Camelion 1100 AAA and Cosmos 900 AAA lost more than half of their capacity in seven months.

Just in case, I tested the second copies of those batteries that turned out to be completely discharged. The second copies of Varta 2700 AA, Ansmann 2700 AA, Cosmos 800 AAA also turned out to be discharged “to zero”, but the second copy of Cosmos 2500 AA turned out to be quite alive – 1580 mAh and the second copy of Navigator 1000 AAA had more than half of the charge left – 590 mah. The second instance of Maha Powerex 1000 AAA has a little more than a third of the charge left – 360 mAh.

Fujitsu 2550 LSD / Panasonic Eneloop Pro 2450 LSD and Panasonic Eneloop Pro 900 LSD / Fujitsu 900 LSD (these are the same batteries manufactured at the same factory under different brands) are expected to take the first places in terms of residual capacity.

Surprisingly, the cheap IKEA LADDA 2000 LSD batteries became the champion in charge conservation (89%).

Even more surprising was the fact that the second place in terms of charge conservation (85%) was taken by a non-LSD Cosmos 1900 battery, and its second copy was no worse (just in case, I tested it too).

In general, some non-LSD batteries have been shown to hold a charge as well as LSDs. And yet, out of 44 batteries, the charge of which after seven months of storage was more than 70% of the original, there were only 8 non-LSD batteries, so it is still better to buy batteries with LSD technology (PreCharged, “already charged”).
